I just went down Cory Street here in Findlay and I remembered this one time when we were kids. We lived on Cory Street close to downtown right there by the river.  You and I somehow came up with this idea that we would put a rope out the window and lower each other down to the ground and this was a two story place we lived in.  As I remember I was lowering you out the window and I think it was mom coming up the steps and as far as I can remember I had to think of something fast so the only thing I could think to do at the time was let go of the rope. So I did.  I remember  you hit the ground and dad was down there working on the car or something and you got into trouble with him. I think he spanked you if I remember it correctly. I guess we did some real strange things for entertainment as kids but it was all in fun.

WHY DID I NOT RECOGNIZE

ALL THE SADNESS IN HIS EYES

I WAS TOO BUSY TO TAKE THE TIME

AND ASK WHAT WAS ON HIS MIND

I WAS SO BLIND

NOW I SEE HIS CRIES FOR HELP

ALL THE CARDS HE WAS DEALT

WAS HE JUST WAITING FOR TIME TO RUN OUT

IS THAT WHAT LIFE IS ALL ABOUT

JUST WAITING FOR IT ALL TO END

OR ASKING WHY IT ALL BEGAN

ITS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THAT

YOU CANT LIE AROUND LIKE A DOORMAT

LET PEOPLE STEP ALL OVER YOU

AND WISH THE WIND WOULD TAKE YOU TO

WHEREVER IT BLEW

I DIDNT SEE THATS WHAT HE DID

HE HID

WHY COULDNT I FIND

I WAS SO BLIND

HE IS GONE NOW

I JUST CRY AND ASK HOW

I LET HIM SLIP AWAY

IT GETS HARDER EVERYDAY

NOW I SIT IN SORROW

WISHING THERE WAS NO TOMORROW

I WAS SO BLIND

I WISH I COULD TURN THE HANDS OF TIME

TO THAT FRIDAY AFTERNOON

I WISH I COULD TURN THE HANDS OF TIME

TO WHERE YOU COULD TELL US WHY YOU LEFT SO SOON

DID YOUR AUNT HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY

DID SHE TELL YOU IT WAS OKAY

AND THAT SHE WAS TAKING YOU TO THE PROMISE LAND

I WISH I COULD TURN THE HANDS OF TIME

TO WHERE WE ALL COULD HAVE BEEN BY YOUR SIDE

I WISH I COULD TURN THE HANDS OF TIME

TO WHERE WE DIDNT FEEL SO EMPTY INSIDE

DID SHE TAKE YOU TO SEE DANIEL, TAP AND GRANDMA

IN THE HEAVENS FAR ABOVE

AND PLEASE SAY HELLO TO GRANDPA

AND SHOWER THEM ALL WITH LOVE

I WISH I COULD TURN THE HANDS OF TIME

AND MAKE IT ALL OKAY

I WISH I COULD TURN THE HANDS OF TIME

TO THAT WARM AND SUNNY DAY
