Josephine Maliszewski was born January 1st, 1929 in Saginaw, MI. She was the first New Years baby that year & it happened to be the first year the Saginaw News started their first baby of the year contest. She was given a savings bond that she still had when she married Curtiss Dartey November 6th 1948. They were blessed with 8 wonderful children :) Jeanne, Vicki, Dean, Annette, Darrell, Duane, Dave, & Lisa. She also was blessed with many grandchildren who meant the world to her! Matt, Shane, Alissa, Jason, Jamie, Danielle, Megan, Zack, Courtney, Cory, Nicholas & Jake. Her grandkids & great grandkids were the light of her life. Because of her love for children she was a foster grandparent at Stone school & continued to spread her love for over 10 years. There was nothing better than being out with her & running in to one of the kids that were in her classroom that were so thrilled to see "Grandma Josie" & when they wrapped those little arms around her I know it meant the world to her just as much as it did to them! A true inspiration til the end! I am thankful for the person she was & feel very fortunate to have had her in my life as long as I did. Certainly miss my "neighbor" every single day but also thankful she is with her Cory...made it a little easier to accept. She missed him so much, it was painful to see. (we have lost 2 very important people in our lives this year). If anything she would want us all to remain strong & be there for each other & never let her legacy of kindness & caring for children go.....she touched many many lives & i'm thankful that I was blessed with that! love you & miss you much MOM!
