A Daughter's Promise

March 20, 2015

Every time that I smile,
Every time that I sigh,
I think of your  face,
And a tear escapes my eye.
You were my world,
My  inspiration and my heart,
But when you left me,
I thought I would fall apart.
You were my best friend,
My one true 'confidante',
And  that's not all you were,
You were also my mom.
I didn't want to live  without you,
But you would have wanted me to,
And if there's anyone I  want to make happy,
That anyone is you.
I would have given anything  to have you back,
But I know now that it was meant to be,
For you are  still watching from up there,
And I know you're watching me.
I'll  make you proud mom,
I'm going to fulfill your wish,
You're going to see  me and smile,
That's a daughter's promise.

MY MOTHER "A ROSE"

March 20, 2015

Rose so rare,
one of its kind,
love and beauty a mother, yes! mine.
Rose without thorns,
not a petal was torn,
a perfect rose stood straight and tall,
my mother was the most precious of all.
A rose that survived the worst kind of weather and yet the most delicate ever,
a rose with a fragrance,
could be no other,
you see this rose is my Mother.
A rose is picked and put to dry,
the beauty is still there,
it never dies.

Being a mother is an excitement and enticement and a growth. It is the possibilty that haunts and delights the young girl as she grows to womanhood. It is a part of the fantasy, both her longing for it and her fear of it. The months of pregnancy highlight all the richness of the remembered and internalized experience about mothering. She is the only person in the whole world in a whole lifetime who can be these things to her children. There is no substitute for her. "My mother...

She was my shining example

Of strength and compassion

Of honor and love

I was grateful to call her "Mom"

She made me proud

She wasn't only my mother

She was my dear friend

My mother had great strength

And she was wise...

I always knew I could draw from her strength

Whenever I needed it

It gave me the courage to grow up and take risks

To experience life's successes...

And a few of its failures

Mother's compassion for others was so deep!

She looked for the need and she filled it

She treated others with kindness and respect

And many lives were blessed through her goodness..."
