The Spring
One of my favorite and most vivid memories of you, was when I came over to see you with a few friends one night, as I had done several times prior. When we had arrived we spent a good bit of time hanging out in the shed with you, listening to music and sharing a good laugh. You and one of the friends I had brought along, Joseph, ran down to the gas station at the corner and picked up a pack of beer. You came back and we all sat around the table conversing and drinking.
Shortly after we stepped outside to the yard and we started playing on the swing. You walked inside for a moment and when you retured you had a bright red velvet robe on, you drunkenly declared that we venture to this spring near by. Everyone took a moment to think it over and we all agreed. We piled into Josephs car and took a trip to the location.
Once we arrived we went over to the spring, it started out as just casually splashing each other with water, then someone brought up the idea to go swimming. None of us were really prepared so we all just got in with our underwear. The only one that didn't get in at the time was Joseph. The rest of us swam around, splashing and laughing, a couple times we played chicken. Then eventually it turned into drunk naked chicken because we all decided to start skinny dipping. After a long while of just pure fuckery. We finally convinced Joseph to get in. After he had taken his pants and shirt off only standing in his boxers, he went to step in when a cop flashed his lights, all of us scurrying around naked and soaked trying to find our clothes in the dark.
Finally we managed to look decent the cops let us off with a warning and told us it's a dawn to dusk park. We all got back into the car and for a hot minute could not stop laughing our asses off at the situation. We drove back to your place cold and wet, dropped you off and said our goodbyes.
I don't know why it's one of my favorite memories, I think it has to do with just how crazy the night went that I couldn't possibly put it all into words. That, and you looked genuinley happy that night... and I loved those moments when you had a real bright smile on your face. Because they were a rarity when I knew you, I cherish the times you were smiling.
I love and miss you Josh.
