B. Morté Jr. “Ben,” age 69, passed away peacefully at Jersey Shore Medical Center on Monday, May 15, 2023, surrounded by his family and friends. Jovino proudly earned his medical degree from the University of the Philippines in 1977, and faithfully served
his community as an orthopedic surgeon at a veterans hospital. He was a retired clinical research scientist for Merck Pharmaceutical Companies, conducting various anesthesia trials. As the author of multiple medical articles, his research was published in
notable scientific journals, including the National Institute of Health. He loved spending time with his family, attending church, and watching basketball games. He will be remembered for his humble demeanor and compassionate nature to everyone he encountered.
He is predeceased by his father, Jovino Morté Sr., his brother Gregorio B. Morté, and his sister, Edna Morté-Banno. He is survived by his mother, Beatrice Morté “Lola”, loving partner, Kimberly Schuler, their beloved daughter Bailey Colleen Morté, and his
two cherished sons, Jovino Jude Morté III and Andre Arnold Morté; as well as his two surviving brothers, Jose and Ceasar Morté, his three sister-in-laws, Terri, Agnes, and Mary Morté, one brother-in-law Ferdinand Banno, along with his four nieces, Kimberly
and husband Kevin, Celia, Tara, Andrea Morté and husband Lee, as well as one nephew, Alex Morté. He has been blessed with two beloved grandchildren, Lyanna and Iggy Morté. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 to 8 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home

Monday services 11:30 AM at St. Veronica’s Church of Howell. Interment St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood, NJ.
