Joyce Overton Belcher, 87, a longtime resident of Granville County, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Universal Healthcare in Oxford.

A native of Granville County, the daughter of the late Sankey and Sallie Stainback Overton, Sr.  She was a member of West Oxford Baptist Church and a retired Registered Nurse at Granville Hospital for forty-two years.

Surviving are a daughter, Sharon Belcher Iglesias of Oxford, two sons, Maynard M. Belcher, Jr. of Angier, Noel S. Belcher of Galax, Virginia, a granddaughter, Stacey Wiles, two grandsons, Noel P. Ryan, Christopher N. Belcher and four great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held, Tuesday evening, October 2, 2012 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford.

Burial will be private.

Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford assisting the Belcher Family.

Forever missed reminded me of the anniversary of Joyce's birthday via internet today. A fine and great lady who will be forever missed. I know you miss her so much. She certainly loved life and did not let it pass her by.

I am sorry to hear of Joyce passing away. I have lost touch. Apparently she was in a nursing home in Oxford. I assumed she still lived in Wake Co. near Noel, who has apparently moved to Va. I hope she was in good health mentally and physically. I remember her golf exploits at Thorndale CC as well as her nursing ability. She was born the same year as Bennie. My condolences to you all.

I saw Joyce's obituary come up on forever missed today.  I remember that Joyce was women's  club champ at Thorndale for many years.  Having taken up golf as an adult I can identify with what a difficult sport golf is.  To do it well is quite an accomplishment.  She was quite a lady.
