Joyce Daniel Slaughter, 87, a lifelong resident of Oxford passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Granville Medical Center.
Born April 1, 1931 in Granville County to the late James Robert (Bob) and Maude Green Daniel and was the youngest of sixteen children.  Joyce graduated from Berea High School and attended Mars Hill College.  She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, sang in the choir and played the organ and taught “The Lily Jones Sunday School Class”.  Joyce retired from Murdoch Center in Butner with thirty years of service with twenty-eight years there as a Cottage Life Supervisor. She serviced her community by playing the piano at various Nursing Homes.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church by Rev. Tim Atkinson and Rev. Keith Williams.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Williams Slaughter of the home; a daughter, Carolyn S. Moseley (Charlie) of Raleigh;  a son, Robert Williams Slaughter, Jr. “Bob” (Cindy) of Mt. Olive; two grandchildren, Robert Williams Slaughter, III “Rob” (Dawn) of Cumming, GA, Meghan Slaughter Brown (Ward) of Mt. Olive and four great-grandchildren, Robert Williams Slaughter, IV “Will”, Isabella Marie Slaughter, Jacob Ryan Slaughter and Isaac Maston Slaughter all of Cumming, GA.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the service, in the Fellowship Hall of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and at other times the home.

Words cannot express the loss I know you have  with the passing of Aunt Joyce. We had many talks after the passing of Mama,and I know Aunt Joyce missed her greatly.Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
