Our Beloved Joyce, Sis, Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma...

Joyce was born in Kendall New York in 1925.  She grew up a farmer's daughter.  She enjoyed farm life with many chores and the fruits of nature.  It gave her a feeling of being close to God and nature throughout her young years.

Joyce attended Kendall Central School and resided in Scotttsville, New York where she met a young man named Alton.  Alton became her love and life partner.  They were blessed with four wonderful children.

A member of the Grace Prsbyterian Church since 1953, Joyce worked as an editor of Scottsville News for 19 years.  She was also a lifetime member of Smith Warren American Legion since 1956.  She served as Monroe County President from 1970-1971.  She coordinated 'WeCare' packages for Vietnam Service people for 7 years, and was name 'Citizen of the Year', Scottsville Lions Club Award in 1977.

Joyce enjoyed golfing, bowling, camping, gardening and crafting.  In fact, she still attended a craft craft weekly in the Spring Hill area.  Joyce was also a Tampa Bay Rays fanatic!  Loved her baseball and loved her Rays!

Joyce is predeceased by her husband, Alton, daughter Cindy Rockow and brother William Hughson.  She is survived by sons Alan (Lori) Cliff, Garry Cliff and daughter Roxi Cliff; brother Rodney (Rebecca) Hughson; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 nephews and several cousins.

If flowers grow in heaven,
Lord, then pick a bunch for me.
Then place them in my mother's arms
and tell her they're from me.
Tell her that I love and miss her
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for awhile.

For all who knew Joyce

September 14, 2013

I don't have a specific story to tell but I can say Joyce was a special lady. She always made everyone feel like they were part her family. I know I shared some really great holidays with Joyce and she will be missed dearly.

You can shed tears that she is gone

Or you can smile because she lived.
We had a wonderful Mother, Grandmother,
And friend,

Her smile was made of sunshine,
And her heart of solid gold;
So gentle, so caring, so giving, and kind.
We are privileged to have had her with us
and have the memories we all hold.
So, talk about the good times
and the days you spent together,
a word may suddenly recapture a time,
an hour, or a day,

that brings her back as clearly
as though she were here, today.

Goodluck on your next 'Sentimental Journey'

Joyce was like a Mother to me.  I had no idea how painful her passing would be for me.  Trying to get on with things, but still on the verge of crying every moment.  There are not many people in your life that can affect you in ways like that.  Mom was so very special and I will never forget all the wonderful things she did for me and everyone.

Now Mom is reunited with Dad, Cindy other loved ones.  Have a blast up in Heaven and I will see you up there some day...

I love and miss you so much!

Lori
