It seems so fitting, the anniversary reminder and our recent visit to the Big Bear home. We did sit out back with Guy by the gazebo and think about how happy Joyce would have been to know we were enjoying the space and thinking of her.  (Thank you again Marcus & Annabel!!)

My dearest Joyce.

I wanted to leave a note to wish you a belated Birthday. If you were here, we would've gone to one of your favorite restaurants to have a wonderful meal accompanied with a glass (or two) of red wine ;-)
I miss you so much, but I know you are watching over us as our guardian angel. In fact, so many good things have happened since your passing and I want to believe that you had a hand in making them happen.

Not a day goes by that I don't think of you. Thank you for shaping me into the woman that I am today. Love you, Carolina

I had the great pleasure of meeting Joyce for the first time at the dinner celebrating the sale of Joico in 2001. I vividly remember having a conversation with Joyce during the evening about her roots, her family and the growth of Joico, and coming away knowing that I had met an extraordinary woman who was unpretentious, genuine, warm and full of grace. There are many different paths a person can take after a financially successful transaction. In addition to having the passion, vision and mission to grow World Gym into a first class gym throughout the world, Joyce took the path of selflessly investing her time, efforts and money in philanthropic activities. Despite her passing, her influence and inspiration will be felt for years to come.

Jim and I fondly remember Joyce as a warm and unassuming person whose priority was not of self but of others. Joyce's kindness shone through and her infectious smile was never far away.
Her legacy is a wonderful family and a bond of togetherness that she engendered from all of those she met, not least of all the World Gym family.

Unfortunately, I did not have privilege of knowing Joyce Cammilleri during her time with us. However, I am blessed by one of her gifts that she left for all of us. Her son Marcus loves sharing his ability to make us physically fit and feeling better. His ability to encourage and bring out the best in all of us I am certain comes from his mother Joyce. So in knowing Marcus, I have seen glimpse of Joyce!

I met Mrs. Cammilleri when I was in elementary school. I sat behind Guy when I moved to Arcadia in 3rd grade since back then, our teachers always sat us alphabetically! So began our lifelong friendship and anytime I'd come over, there was smiling Mama Cam. So many random class projects, homework assignments or general hanging out, I can't remember her not having a smile on her face. Even when the tree fell on their house and Guy and I drove down from college to meet the family at a hotel, there was a smile. She had a real sweet, calm, grace about her. A classy lady who was so dearly loved by my beautiful friend, Guy, and his brothers.

Joyce was leaning toward the future at a time of her life when she could have easily stepped back, retired, and merely clipped coupons. Joyce was always committed to doing the right thing, and among the things that she felt were right to do were to stay active in life and in business and to support her family in there business adventures. She also understood that life was about more then her own family, her own friends and her own business interests. Her generosity extended beyon her own circle. As just one example among many, Joysce was very generous to the University of Southern California as well as setting up matters so that her philanthropic activities would continue long after her passing. She is missed very much.

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of my Aunt Joyce. Next to her boys, I was perhaps her closest relative. Joyce and my Mother were sisters and communicated all the time. My Mom died in 2002, and Joyce was the last member of the family. I shall remember the many visits that I had in California, and the many visits when Joyce and family came to visit me in South Dakota. I have shared a short story in the "Story" section of this memorial that includes more information. "Tante" Joyce....you will be missed. + Dan Mueller 3 October 2016

Joyce was an amazing mother, successful business woman and a loyal friend. Chloe and I were so lucky to have been a part of her special life. There are so many elements I loved about Joyce, but the one the thing I loved most about her was her undeniable love for her three sons.

Joyce, I will never forget your infectious laugh and your classy demeanor. Thank you for everything you have done for Chloe and I. Most of all, thank you for sharing your life with us. You will forever remain in our hearts. I love you.

Joyce was a very generous philanthropist to USC and others and even named a miniature Disney Hall - the Joyce J. Cammilleri Hall. She also named the Cammilleri Cafe in Dauterive Hall and was a generous supporter of the USC Broad Center as well. I will truly miss Joyce and our many telephone conversations and lunch meetings we had over the years.
