Joyce “Pete” Diggs, 63, a native of Granville County passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

She was the daughter of the late T. Roy and Vera Moore. She was a member of Mt. Creek Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford. Graveside services will follow the visitation at Mt. Creek Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. by Rev. Woodrow Freeze.

She is survived by her husband, Walt Diggs, of the home, two sons; Michael “Paul” Matthews (Angela) and Bradley Allen Matthews (Stephanie Yancey), a brother, Ronnie “Buck” Moore, four grandsons; Christopher, Christian, Tyler and Jason Matthews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James “Jimmy” T. Matthews.

Flowers are accepted and friends can visit the family at the home of Brad and Stephanie, 2105 James Winston Rd., Oxford, N.C. 27565.

Pete you accepted me with open arms like I was a daughter to you. Now your gone with only memories left to spare. I miss you more than you will ever know and I'm so grateful that God spared 3 years of your life with me. I love Brad and will always take care of him as though you asked me to. Your at peace and I will always remember our wonderful talks,laughs,hugs and love we share rest easy my beautiful friend I LOVE YOU!!!

Pete was a loving open hearted woman..whom loved her family and friends very much... She enjoyed planting flowers in the yard to picking in the garden.. she loved shopping swimming and just relaxing on the couch with her husband Walt and baby boy killer d.. she loved to talk laugh and just comfort you when needed.. she was the best Woman I ever known...
