Obituary

Juanita H. Jimenez (Janie) was born June 24, 1941 in Crystal City, Texas to Ignacio and Anita S. Hernandez.  She passed away from this life at the age of 74 on July 13, 2015 in Longmont, CO.  Her years between her birth and departure were ones of kindness, giving, loving and being an excellent mother and friend.

Janie journeyed to Fort Lupton, Colorado to live with her 3 daughters and near her brother Pedro Hernandez in Brighton in the late 1960’s after spending time in Crystal City, San Antonio, Dallas and Littlefield, Texas.

While in Fort Lupton she lived a productive and active life.  She worked for the Fort Lupton School District until 2001.  She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary Post 7667.  She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Share Colorado, she was a Plan De Salud Board Member, a Eucharistic Minister for the elderly and home bound, and a Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) Member.

Janie loved to walk, had a green thumb for all things in her garden her flowers her trees, etc.  She loved music, dancing and eating Fritos, Sprite, Heath and Salted Nut Rolls candy bars.  She loved working crossword puzzles, loved children and her favorite color was blue.

She married Eduardo (Eddie) T. Jimenez on December 29, 1984 and from this union she was blessed with her fourth daughter Rigolee.

Janie was preceded in death by her husband Eduardo (Eddie) T. Jimenez, her parents Ignacio and Anita S. Hernandez, eldest brother’s Jose, Octaviano, Eutemio, Pedro, Ignacio Jr. and her twin brother Juan Hernandez.

Janie leaves behind to cherish her memories her loving daughters Anna (Tommy) Castilleja, Alma (Gustavo) Portillo, Cherrie (Eddie) Archuleta, all of Longmont, Colorado and Rigolee Jimenez of Fort Lupton, Colorado. 

Her grandchildren Chelsea (Johnny) Pacheco, Isaiah (Renee) Castilleja, Alexa (Jessy) Marquardt, Zachary Castilleja, Cherish Archuleta, Austin Castilleja, Diego Jimenez and Noel Jackson.

Great grandchildren, Alianna, Johnny and Santana Pacheco, Zayla and Zachary Castilleja and a host of family and friends.

Wake will be Monday, July 20, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. at Crossroads Church 1115 1st St., Ft. Lupton, CO 80621

Funeral Service followed by reception on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Crossroads Church, her family will hold a private, family only internment service on Wednesday, July 22, 2015.
