On this first International Women's Day since you made your Transition, My Juds, I remember a loving, courageous, empowering, gracious woman of petite frame, who embodied the Jamaican phrase "likkle but tallawah" ('small but strong'). Your strong convictions of justice, thinking outside of the box, bucking social conventions that did not complement your esoteric, lofty views and quiet insistence of trodding your own path, as you followed your 'still, small voice' are values that I salute and appreciate. I remember your quiet amused recollection of being 'advised' to wear 'real jewellery' at one of your work places (not ones made of shell or wood - God Forbid! Lol!) and you amusedly telling me that you would not be supporting the atrocities that accompany the extraction of such precious metals. Your very tactful commentary on movies that did not extol the diversity of cultures, or worse yet, depicted people of colour in limited, demeaning, stereotypical roles. Your denouncement of social inequality and your unfailing positive encouragement of my varied endeavours. Thank you Juds! Today, I celebrate you, among a legacy of generations of strong women who have been shining examples of matriarchial strength and vow to empower other women, as much as I am able to, to honour the values that you have instilled in me. You are treasured, loved and missed. Walk good an tek care, Juds!

Remembering you with lots of love, Juds. Missing you much. Know that you are celebrating this Holy Season differently, this year. Usually you would be meditating to celebrate the Christ-mass. Hugs and kisses!

On this first Thanksgiving Day since you have made your transition from this Earth plane, I think lovingly of you Juds, and give thanks for having had you as a very giving, thoughtful Mom.

"Thanksgiving and praise open in your consciousness the way for spiritual growth and supply to come to you. Spirit pushes Itself out into visible manifestation as soon as a channel is opened through which it can flow. You should be thankful for everything at all times. Realize that all power to think, and speak, and act comes from God, and that He is with you now, guiding and inspiring you." ~ Paramahansa Yogananda.

Judith always remembered my birthday. She is now celebrating her Birthday with the Heavenly Hosts. She is enjoying Infinite Peace Profound.
Happy Birthday Judith.
July 21, 2021
On Juds' Birthday today, thought that I would post something uplifting and positive to reflect her joyous, love-filled spirit. I thank Juds always for providing me with many opportunities to be exposed to the truth of many True Religions. Such a needed balm for the soul and a source of comfort in these very challenging times. Missing her much, but thankful for her unconditional love and unlimited support.

'1. When John was twelve years old his mother died, and neighbors laid her body in a tomb among her kindred in the Hebron burying ground, and near to Zacharias' tomb.

2. And John was deeply grieved; he wept. Matheno said, It is not well to weep because of death.

3. Death is no enemy of man; it is a friend who, when the work of life is done, cuts the cord that bind the human boat to earth, that it may sail on smoother seas.

4. No words can describe a mother's worth, and yours was tried and true. But she was not called hence until her tasks were done.

5. The calls of death are always for the best, for we are solving problems there as well as here; and one is sure to find himself where he can solve his problems best.

6. It is but selfishness that makes one wish to call to earth again departed souls.

7. Then let your mother rest in peace. Just let her noble life be strength and inspiration unto you.'

~ taken from 'The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ', Section IV, Chapter 15.

My Beloved Aunt Maggie had given my Grandmother Ms. Mons and Uncle Guy a copy of this book decades ago, and I have been blessed to purchase my own copy. The power of the written word, complemented by a love of reading and loving Family Members. Thanking God for his Countless Blessings.

The Angel Way

She came out through the angel gate

Featherlight, carried no weight

Borne up on a whispers breeze

Flowing grace, consummate ease

Countenance shining rose radiant

Heart of gold's finest raiment

Robe of peace, enfolding all

Beauty's bouquet, enchanting all

Song of love's enticing call

Soul sight sensing mighty presence

Joys expression, pure essence

Presentations of hearts treasure

All laid out for earth and heavens pleasure

Shining star with a human face

Time and space

In one embrace

I am still in shock. I just learned of Juds translation. I last saw her when I left Kingston in 2019. She gave me a copy of her book. We stayed in contact. She was like an Aunt to me. I am so sad.

REMEMBRANCE ...
posted on behalf of Judith's Brother, Ronald, and Sister-in-law, Judy.

Judith Grace Hamilton, affectionately called "Juds," was born on the 21st July 1952. The second of three children and the first daughter born to Monica and Guy Hamilton. She attended St. Jago Prep School, St. Hugh's Prep and went on to St. Hugh's High. At Prep School she did well scholastically and particularly well at Track. Although small in stature, her Aura was much larger, as on numerous Sports Days she regularly outran larger participants, which brought great joy to our Dad. Maybe her small frame offered less wind-resistance ensuring her success? She also featured prominently in many school plays, probably signalling her early interest in the Arts. This interest became more obvious as on occasions of my momentary distraction she would add her finishing touches to my watercolour masterpieces - my reaction to which would incur an extremely rare modicum of displeasure from our Dad. Being the perfectionist type - even with my increased vigilance - undaunted, she would persist to ensure produced items would be of the highest quality; less than perfection would be unacceptable.
At St. Hugh's High her love of the Arts began to blossom with growing interest in Poetry and Creative Writing. She graduated after completing Fifth Form and entered the working world as a Receptionist at Mayfair Hotel. From Mayfair she joined the Bank of Nova Scotia and then the Law Firms of Brandon & Bolton and Rattray, Patterson, Rattray. During this period she gave birth to Michelle Elizabeth, who the became the focal point of her life. Judith was the doting mother who ensured Michelle's needs were always met. Fun events that she and Michelle shared included regular, memorable visits to the Hope Gardens and Zoo, going to the beach and other interesting places. Let's not forget birthday parties at Coconut Park Funland, where friends and family were always present. All Art, Music and Literary Events were high points of her
calendar. She would not easily allow you to miss those events as she would often have secured tickets beforehand. Fun-loving, vibrant, energetic, helpful, enthusiastic were some of her traits.
A side to her, unknown to many, is that she was vigilant and protective of her surroundings. If an incident unpleasant or disturbing had occurred, she would have been one of the earliest on the scene to determine what had happened and offer advice or assistance.
Her interest in things otherworldly or spiritual actually started with her reading of my books by Lobsang Rampa in the 60's. This progressed to greater levels of enlightenment through the teachings of the Master Jesus, Parmahansa Yogananda and other spiritual beacons. Furthered by associations with various spiritual groups and their teachings, she showed great tolerance to differing spiritual views.
She will be remembered for her writings, the most notable being, "Rain Carvers" and "Schoolhouse." Some of her work has been included in school textbooks, for which she received literary recognition. She had a deep love for children and had wanted to start a school for young kids. This dream didn't materialise to full fruition, but she continued her interest in writing children's books. Her favourite expressions of "Divine Order," "So it is," and "Let's go have a bite to eat," would regularly be heard.
After a brief illness Judith made her transition on May 14, 2021, leaving behind Daughter, Michelle; Son-in-law, Wayne; Brother, Ronald; Sister-in-law, Judy; Sister, Audrey; Nieces, Stacey and Dayna; Cousin, Dennis; other relatives and many friends. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

May the "Eternal Light" welcome you home, Juds, to go out again NEVERMORE... And So It Is!

My Dear Friend-From-When
Thanks for the cherished memories.
You came into my life at a time that I will always hold dear - a time of so much love and knowledge and sharing. And you were at the centre of it all. You touched so many lives...reminded us of all that is good in people and nature. What a gift you were to your world.
There will never be another one like you, Miss Juds. Never! Such a gentle, caring, pure-hearted and spiritual being. And 100% authentic.
Wishing you boundless love and light as you continue your journey and return to Source.
Holding good thoughts for Michelle & Warren, Audrey, Ronald, your grands and the rest of your earth family.

Judith joined us at Property Management Resources Ltd a few years ago up to the time of her passing she was family to us the prayers, eating and sharing of fruits and other such delights that was healthy for the body are some of the fun memories. On my birthday in January she did a painting with poetry I cried for it really sounded and looked like a goodbye piece and as I shared how I felt she said I made it specially for you and then asked me to lead in prayer I did so and we bid each other goodbye. Judith is missed by us all her gentle, peaceful and colorful dressing she displayed before us all made our day as there is always a story behind everything she did. We miss you Judith you are gone from this earth but not from our hearts  Rest In Peace.

My name is Dawn Lindo and I was a classmate of Judy's at St. Hugh's High School. Our Past Students' Association informed members about her passing. My sister Carol was a form ahead of us however the three of us had a deep connection. This was buttressed when Carol (now Pansy) and I met Audrey, Judy's sister. I remember being fascinated by the fact that Audrey was the first female mechanic I'd met - and she certainly knew about cars! Pansy and I will always hold Judy dear. To me, Judy's brilliant, wide and welcoming smile reflected the purity of her character, because what you saw was always "what you got": real, loving, unselfish and caring Judy. Her laugh was equally infectious. As with many deep friendships, although Judy, my sister and I were not in regular contact post high school, whenever we met up the mutual warmth and interest as we shared, were to the fore. I think the last time Judy and I saw each other was in 1999 when St. Hugh's was 100 years old. Our conversation simply picked up where we'd left off previously. I will always treasure Judy's joy as she shared about her writing, her children's books specifically. This simply showed how Judy always shared - passing on important life lessons to another generation. There is such a critical global need for expressing and passing on, eternal Life principles. As Judy did, I too have been engaging with/passing on to those wonderful values to my grandchildren here in Florida, since 2017. I know - as did Judy and Pansy- many other past students who are equally grateful for the loving and empowering principles implanted in us by parents, grandparents and wider community - including our beloved St. Hugh's. Our PSA mentioned that some of Judy's poetry was included in an anthology under the auspices of Professor Mervyn Morris, former Poet Laureate, Jamaica. This is well deserved, given Judy's inclusive and loving nature. We are grateful to understand that Love never dies and all who express it, as Judy did, are immortalised accordingly. Pansy and I send our love and supportive prayers and thoughts to your family, Judy. We too know what it feels like to say an "earthly goodbye" to a beloved relative as our Mother passed away on December 4 last year. I am grateful she had been living with me. God's unconditional Love, comfort and reassurance continue to envelop you, Judy and your family.

Dear Judith, I remember the hot afternoons and cool soothing evenings sitting outside on the porch of your beloved home at #8 Hope Pastures. We were always several people, with Ms. Mons, the Queen Mother, always sitting on her personal wooden armchair. We would sip one of your handmade juices, engaging in serious talk as well as in light and joyful laughter, enjoying each other's company, breathing in the serenity of such magical moments of pure being. Your home was a safe harbor in which everyone felt welcome. Since then, since my departure, we always kept in touch with phone calls, cards, letters, and books... you never missed to send me a copy of your new creation! For many years you even never missed to give me a quick call for my birthday... By chance after 12 years, I visited again, just in time to farewell Ms. Mons already lying in a hospital bed… Divine Order! you used to say... It was beautiful and deeply moving to be all together again in such a meaningful time. After Rosina contacted me in April this year, less than two months ago, I felt the urge to paint a portrait of you from the only picture I treasure of the three of us together on the day of my departure from Kinston in November 1996. I did it all in one breath.... I realized it was my way of connecting with you and recall your beautiful soul and genuine friendship. I am happy I was still able to talk with you twice. On the last phone call, we had a long chat as you had finally received a new mobile phone with WhatsApp connection, which you could not yet handle properly... but this made it possible for me to send you the picture of your portrait. You smiled. I promised I would find a way to ship safely the original to you, but you were so joyful and in the meantime, you wanted to have the portrait's picture printed out!
My dear soul sister, when you left, I felt a little lonelier on this planet as your presence was discrete but always there, with light, grace, gentle words, witty laugh. I knew you would never forget about me and this made me feel loved and wanted. Sometimes I feel you are still around here, watching and caring, because while you did yours, we still "have work to do". I love you, I miss you, I am grateful for having crossed your path, grande piccola Judith.

I remember reading a version of the following story some time ago, and it really resonated with me. Humbling and inspirational at the same time. I had immediately thought of Juds when I had read it, as she was always doing so much for others, that many times she neglected to take care of herself. Thanks always for the love, powerful prayers and good memories, Juds. Walk good an tek care!

A voyaging ship was wrecked during a storm at sea and only two of the men on it were able to swim to a small, desert like island. The two survivors who have been good friends, not knowing what else to do, agreed that they had no other recourse but to pray to God. However, to find out whose prayer was more powerful, they agreed to divide the territory between them and stay on opposite sides of the island.

The first thing they prayed for was food. The next morning, the first man saw a fruit-bearing tree on his side of the land, and he was able to eat its fruit. The other man’s parcel of land remained barren. After a week, the first man was lonely and he decided to pray for a wife. The next day, another ship was wrecked, and the only survivor was a woman who swam to his side of the land. On the other side of the island, there was nothing.

Soon the first man prayed for a house, clothes, more food. The next day, like magic, all of these were given to him. However, the second man still had nothing. Finally, the first man prayed for a ship, so that he and his wife could leave the island. In the morning, he found a ship docked at his side of the island. The first man boarded the ship with his wife and decided to leave the second man on the island.

He considered the other man unworthy to receive God’s blessings since none of his prayers had been answered.

As the ship was about to leave, the first man heard a voice from heaven booming, “Why are you leaving your companion on the island?”

“My blessings are mine alone since I was the one who prayed for them,” the first man answered. “His prayers were all unanswered and so he does not deserve anything.”

“You are mistaken!” the voice rebuked him. “He had only one prayer, which I answered. If not for that, you would not have received any of my blessings.”

“Tell me,” the first man asked the voice, “What did he pray for that I should owe him anything?”

“He prayed that all your prayers be answered ”

Moral: For all we know, our blessings are not the fruits of our prayers alone, but those of another praying for us. Value your friends, don’t leave your loved ones behind.

ABOUT JUDITH
Judith entered St Hugh’s in 1964 from St Hugh’s Preparatory and before that she attended St Jago Preparatory.

During her time at St Hugh’s, Judith immersed herself in many pursuits, especially those that involved reading and literature, but is also remembered as a fast swimmer and sprinter. She had a close friendship with Librarian, Miss Ethel Kingdon, and several teachers: Miss Marjorie McIntosh and Mrs. Pam Edgar Kelly (English); Madame Claire Morgan (French); Flo Martin Julal (Typing); and Hockey coach Miss Rittie. In Form V Judith received the top prize for Typewriting, which was a new subject to the school.

While at St Hugh’s Judith also participated in a play that was written and staged by founder of the Jamaica School of Drama, Dennis Scott, with a cast of students from St Hugh’s and Kingston College.

Judith left school after Form V and worked for the Mayfair Hotel then the law firm, Brandon and Bolton. But her longest term of employment was at the Bank of Nova Scotia where she was a technical writer of procedure manuals.

During the 1970s, she started to expose her poetic writing to audiences, gaining commendation, which led to her entering local writing competitions. Her poem “poem teacha” received the Silver medal in the 1984 festival competition which led to this and other poems being included in the Institute of Jamaica’s anthology, From Our Yard.

Judith was a founding board member of the RCM Music Foundation, which is now the Music Unites Jamaica Foundation.

Judith’s poem, farmer’s prayer, was highlighted in the 2015 series, From Our Poetry Books, of Poet Laureate Mervyn Morris. A recording of that poem is on the poet laureate's website of the National Library of Jamaica

In 2013, Sandberry Press published Judith’s children’s book, The School House, which she wrote for her daughter in 1980. The published edition is dedicated to her grandson.

Throughout her life, Judith kept in touch with St Hugh’s and even used her writing to help to raise funds for the school. In the early 1990s she staged two poetry readings at Alhambra Inn as fund raisers for St Hugh’s. Distinguished Past Student Fae Ellington was a featured performer.

In 2016, she staged a small and acclaimed evening of music and poetry at St Jago de la Vega cathedral in Spanish Town to honour her parents, her parish St Catherine and the church community in which she was raised.

Lifelong St Hugh’s friends include Patsy Kentish Cameron, Fae Ellington, Carolyn Garcia Wint, Janet Roberts, Maureen Ellis Bailey, Lorna and Janet Vassell, Dawn and Carol Lindo.

The St. Hugh's Past Students Association extends condolences to her daughter Michelle Sucklal (Wayne); sister Audrey, brother Ronald, grandchildren Warren and Shanti, and her extended family and friends.

Gwaan walk good on this phase of your Journey, Judith. You walked with such grace and dignity, inspiring us with your poetry and art. You overcame your challenges as you faced them head-on, not even pausing for a beat ..The Ancestors wait to welcome you with open arms .. this I know to be true, for you are a Queen worthy of it.
Scrolling through the pics I see a book that I also bought for my son in Kenya so many moons ago - 'Bringing the Rain to Kapiti Plain' ... the threads of life are so intricately woven...

I'm known to be a person of few words so to you, Juds I'll say, thank you for being one of few people that actually listened when I did chime in, and for never assuming my words and thoughts were any other's than my own.

For believing in my thoughts and plans even when I hadn't even fully fleshed them out or explained them yet. For being a fine example of 'march to the beat of your own drum' and 'dare to be different'. For showing me there are so many ways to get what you want out of life. And that maybe I should start with the unconventional ones first, just to see what amazing thing could happen, what new place I could end up.

Thank you for showing that awesome things are possible long before they seem realistic or doable. Thank you for being cool, courageous, inventive and kind. Thank you for understanding what I mean with this post even though it's maybe not fitting for such a sombre occasion, however, I suspect you wouldn't mind. Just, thanks Juds.

Ms. Judith G. Hamilton... Juds.

Light-years ahead in vision, 10 feet ahead in steps - we couldn't keep up if we tried.

The quietest calm in the house; the perpetual, gentle, listening ear; the chattiest, vibrant conversation heard; the widest smile and the biggest embrace. That little frame still knows no bounds.

You best illustrated the premise, 'none of it is wasted' not time, thought, effort nor experience. Repeatedly you would 'underline' that whatever it is will have purpose eventually, don't 'write' it off.

Your mind was bounty; an oasis overflowing with light, knowledge, colour and expression. You cleverly sprinkled seeds of love, hope, strength and conviction - planted in a heart; to take root in forever.

You taught joy and value in great and small. You saw possibility and opportunity in everything... unendingly believe and do unto greater; good is ultimately inevitable.

Your encouraging words and infinitely curious ways will play out somehow in our lives and in our habits... maybe we'll eat mangoes with a spoon; tap a foot as we sit, think, read, write or talk; spontaneously hug an unsuspecting nearby human; get lost in nature for hours; or smile for seemingly no reason. We've learnt, breathed and understood the sentiment of, 'It is well...' and 'Divine Order.'

With great humility and utmost gratitude we say, Thank You.

For some you've attained the rest and comfort you've afforded them and rightfully deserve. For others you've transcended and returned to the Source.
For others still the fire of your lifeforce burns ever potently strong. You would have it no other way as, 'Why not?' you would say with a grin and twinkle of the eyes, 'All are delightfully conceived.'

Beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt; dearest friend and confidante; prolific poet, author and consultant; you are loved and your dextrous, quick, ambitious, generous words flow on...

'Make the Lord the Shepherd of your soul...He is your Polestar on the dark seas of mortal existence. Seek His Guidance. The world will go on like this in its ups and downs. Where shall we look for a sense of direction? Not to the prejudices roused within us by our habits and the environmental influences of our families, our country, or the world; but to the guiding voice of Truth within."

Dance on Judith! What a fitting song! It’s a Weekday morning! A mutual friend stopped by your home with me in tow. I felt a connection! Your odd insights! Your otherworldly connection! I recall your weird word ( prophetic?) re my ecclesiastical leanings. You somehow detected a spark in me, fanned it and an old dream flamed again. Still unrealized I recognize the parabolic nature and symbolism of words ... like those of the Lord of the dance. Such thin delineations separating the dimensions we call life! You are a peculiar spirit Judith. You add yourself particular value to this planet snd this nation, Jamaica. Hugs and meaningful gaze to family especially Audrey my dear friend ( from our Women’s Media Watch days). Dance on Judith!

Grandma Juds was a vibrant source of kindness and happiness. Growing up in Canada, we received numerous calls of check-ups and support from Grandma Juds, showing us her love and best wishes from abroad. Though I was in Canada for a majority of my life, I ended up going to Jamaica in 2016 to revisit. While visiting, I have a very fond memory of a day where she and I spent the day just travelling around Kingston. It was unbelievable when I witnessed in person how kind, polite, and loving she was towards anyone and everyone she had met. We will miss Grandma Juds very much, but I'm glad she's in a better place.

My Gramma Juds - Reflection by Shanti Sucklal
My grandmother never missed a birthday. She would always call and send me a little something along with blessings and hugs. Not just on birthdays too, but all the time, for congratulations, celebrations and just for simple check-ins. I'm sure we all know how much she'd called. It simply showed how much she loved you, and although we weren't together physically a lot of the time, I'm sure she would agree, we were always together spiritually. You will be greatly missed. Love you lots, Gramma Juds.
