Family

April 1, 2021
I am sure that if you knew Judy, you knew that she loved her family.  Which thru her life time included Grandpas, Grandmas, Mom, Dad, brothers, sisters, Uncles, Aunts, husband, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  Growing up the family always celebrated holidays together.  Judy also loved her Choctaw Heritage and Oklahoma.  This is the reason that in the Gallery of pictures you will find not just Judy but all the family she loved.

Please feel free to add any pictures you have or stories you remember about Judy.  If you do not feel comfortable adding pictures, you can email them to me at jmartin44@msn.com and I will add them.

This is a story about how Judy wanted to be included in what was happening.  Her Aunt Donna had put together a Halloween Costume for a party at Athens Baptist Church where part of the Cole children attended along with the grandchildren.  Once Judy saw it she of course wanted to be involved but she was too young to attend so she begged her Aunt to at least try on the outfit.  Here a picture of Aunt Donna and one of Judy in the same outfit in 1960

Judy and I grew up together we were the rebels without a pause being the first kids born to our teenage parents we were a high spirited couple who drove our folks to premature grey hairs and were always eager to spread our wings. Judy always stayed a part of my life shortly after her daughter Betsy died I lost my oldest son and Judy was an unwavering support for me during that difficult period I will always remember the good times and crazy things we did as kids she will be tucked away in my heart and will be missed by many she was and will always be one of a kind....RIP Judy I will catch you on the other side I love you.

Judy

February 26, 2021
Judy life wasn’t always easy, but she made the best of it. I can remember when she was in high school she went to school in wearing Native American inspired outfits, and then next week it would be in a cowgirl outfit. Judy never cared what people thought of her she stayed true to herself all her life. I think that’s something we can all take away from Judy’s life.
She loved her family dearly and missed her daughter tremendously. The love she had for her grandchildren showedthrough to everyone around her.

Remembering Judy

February 26, 2021
To me, I will always remember Judy as being feisty. ornery ( at times) and passionate.
She was passionate about her Native American Heritage, old family history and her grandchildren.
She seriously put in a lot of time studying up on Choctaw history and our ancestral heritage pertaining to that. I believe she has much written down on what she discovered. I would love to see her findings.
I think her dream was always to settle in Oklahoma. I believe she attempted once but it didn't seem to work out. Dreams can be funny that way. Perhaps Judy was born in the wrong Era. She loved antiques, reminiscing about the past and the old way of doing things.
Most importantly of all she loved children. Especially her grandchildren. She would have had Christmas twice a year if possible and would have showered them with gifts.
When she tragically lost her young daughter Betsy   she lost part of herself.  Whatever the afterlife holds for us I hope Judy is with Betsy now and feels whole again.

Becoming an Aunt

February 26, 2021
I became an Aunt for the first time in Oct 29, 1951 when Judy Ann was born.  I was only 7 1/2 years old. My siblings who also became Uncles and Aunts were Charles, Donna and James. As Judy's sibling came along we all were growing up together.  My youngest brother James was only 5 1/2 when Judy was born. The Robinson family was at our house just about every weekend. Lots of precious memories.  A we all grew older then the visits were not as often.  But always joined together as a family for the holidays.  Here is a pictures of Aunt Donna with Judy, Mike, And Uncle James in June 1954.

Family time

February 26, 2021
Grammie enjoyed spending time with Azren, Allie and Alexis. She would always bring them small treats of cotton candy, candy cigarettes, and seasonal items. She would always come to see them and sing her song:
I love you,
I love you with
A bushel and a peck
A bushel and a peck
and a what
squeeze around the neck

They would spend time sitting on the front porch talking about life and Judy’s stories from her younger days when she was a groupie of a band.
At Christmas time, it was a tradition to decorate her tree with the girls. She always made it special by including what the girls liked on her tree. One year her tree had a lot of unicorns on it:) just to bring a smile to Allie’s face.
Judy loved her grandkids and she will be forever missed

Judy, Mike and Steve as kids

February 26, 2021
I remember a story I was told about Judy, Mike and Steve playing cowboys and Indians in Oklahoma.  Mike and Steve supposedly tied Judy (the Indian) to a tree and left her there,  They must of gotten bored and started playing a different game somewhere else because mom found her screaming.  Haha

Judy and homework - WHAT?

February 25, 2021
Judy loved her Indian heritage and used every opportunity to share the info/data that she had gathered with others.  I remember on several occasions when she would come to my house and practically do both of my kids Indian homework.  She loved her arts and crafts, much more talented than I.  My kids always got a good grade on “Judy’s” homework. Haha

I remember her entertaining Spencer and his buddies with her stories while she sat in the backyard having her smoke.  I think Spencer’s friends were a bit shocked at some of them.

When Sam was young she was an even pickier eater than she is now and Judy was the only one that could get her to eat, especially meat.  Sam would never eat meat.  It was crazy.

Judy spent a lot of time with my kids and we will cherish those memories for years to come
