Her Life
December 27, 2020
Family and friends will remember Judy as petite in size, and extra-large in heart and spirit. She will be greatly missed.

Judy was born on April 14, 1951 to Carol Ann and Stanford Arthur Broutman, in the town of Muskegon, Michigan. She spent much of her childhood years playing outside and getting into (and eventually out of) trouble. In 1984 she married John “J.L.” Tison, the love of her life, and together they enjoyed hiking, horseback riding, and boating. Judy carried an enormous capacity for humor, and was never one to forget a funny story.

A Master’s Degree holder from Stetson University in DeLand, FL, Judy was a guidance counselor at several K-16 schools throughout Alachua County, Florida and beyond. Judy devoted her energy to students, enriching the lives of countless young adults. She gave compassion freely to all those around her, and was a treasured advisor and confidant.

Throughout her life, Judy challenged us all to live with more love, faith, and empathy. Her tenacity was evident through her belief in people, commitment to others, and will to live.
