January 5, 2015

Julius Elinge Ikome was born on April 29 1982 at Mt Mary hospital Buea to Mr. Julius Monangai Ikome and Mrs Vivian Nalova Ikome nee Motutu

He attended Government Nursery School Buea Town from 1984 to 1987, Catholic School Buea Station, Government School Likoko Membea and Government school Buea town where he got the First School Living Certificate. He was admitted to Government High School Bokwango and was there for 2 years and moved to Baptist High School Buea where he obtained the Ordinary and Advanced level in 1999 and 2001 respectively.

Being independent and adventurous he decided to become an Accountant and enrolled on Association of Chartered Certified Accountancy (ACCA) Program even though he was a science oriented student. As a brilliant student he independently did those courses and successfully completed in 2010 and became an Affiliated Chartered Certified Accountant. He believed that true success was achieved in education and consequently desired to follow it through written international courses. And even on his sick bed he wrote two course: ‘PRINCE 2 Registered practitioner and PRINCE 2 foundation examinations which he scored highly and even baffled the examiner who was surprised to see him in poor health sitting for the second paper. This ambition he propagated to his siblings by encouraging and supporting them to further their education to obtain Masters’ degrees.

In order to have professional experience he had an internship with the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon at the Synod Office Buea. He later proceeded to TELCAR Cocoa in 2006 and worked in Douala, Lolodof and Mbonge as an Accountant where he fell sick in 2012.

Elinge fell in love and got married to Achale Lydien Nkongho with whom he has two lovely children Eyole and Adira. He started this good life at the age of 24 that is why at 32 he has a son 8 years old who looks so much like him, a souvenir that will live after him.

He was very supportive to his family,

Elinge quickly assumed the role of a Father/Husband to his family and pioneered every venture pursuing it all to completion. In all this he believed that his plans could only succeed with his mother’s participation or contribution, a mummy’s boy indeed who felt secure and safe when his mother was beside him. They would talk endlessly until the odd hours of the morning always looking for ways to give her the best for the endless sacrifices she had made to bring them up. Even on his sick bed he made sure her house was completed so she could retire in a decent place.

Elinge enjoyed life the best way he could and loved to dress and smell good. He had more pairs of shoes than the ladies in the house. He had a generous appetite which made him know all the food joints in every town he visited.

He was jovial, welcoming, fun-loving and brutally honest. He had the ability to draw crowds to himself this explains his popularity amongst many with fun names such as Julie, Julieworks, Workso, Okite, Baiseh, Joseph etc. Naturally he was the author of nick names in the family. Like; Mama, Yaya, Coco, Church Police, and High Commissioner (especially when she served as presbytery president for fako north for ten years and elder of PC Buea Station. Evy, singoloko, Achale- Yard madam, Eyole-thickso Just to name a few.

Elinge took ill in December 2012, until his death on Saturday the 27th of December no proper diagnosis was made. Every effort was made to salvage the situation was futile. He visited Dr Hassan’s clinic in Abuja Nigeria, the Reference hospital in Douala and several others where he consulted with some of the best minds in the medical field.

He leaves behind his amazing wife, two adorable kids, his loving mother, sisters aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends to mourn him.
