GEROLD, JULIUS (1922-2017), passed on June 14. Cremation was private.

Predeceased by his loving wife Elizabeth and son, Tibor. Survived by daughter Ruth Theresa Gerold Slovik; son, Walter Gerold (Jacqueline); grandchildren Allison Slovik and Robbie Slovik and Julia Gerold Mattar (Maroon), Christopher Gerold (Sandra), and Marissa Gerold Hoehn (Christian); great-grandchildren Jackie and Leila Mattar, Gianna and Alana Hoehn, and Giacomo, Massimo, and Serafina Gerold.

Born in Serbia, he ended up in Germany as a displaced person, unable to return to his homeland, after WWII. He met and married Elizabeth Freund in the displaced – persons camp run by the US military. They emigrated to the United States in 1952. They lived and raised a family in Lodi from 1959 to 1984.

Julius worked his entire career in the textile industry in Northern New Jersey and retired in 1984, at which time he and Elizabeth moved to Holiday City in Toms River. They were active in the Pinelands Reformed Church there.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, June 24 at the Adult Day Center of Somerset County at 872 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ for friends and family to remember his life. All are welcome.
