~ Karen's and my Visit in 1998 ~

My favorite memory of Karen stands out as when I finally got to see Karen!! We had been pen-paling for five years (pre-internet for us) and Karen took the train from Calif. where she lived at the time to Washington State where I am so we could finally meet!! We spent five beautiful days together! It was the month of November and warmer than our typical Novembers, all the days she was here were sunny and bright!! We went to Idaho sight seeing and to the Spokane Museum and had fun lunches out. I took Karen to meet my family as I had always spoken highly of her and our special friendship!! I made my home made cinnamon rolls she was always looking forward to trying and we had nice dinners together in our home. I got lots of beautiful pictures while Karen was here. We enjoyed exchanging gifts and Karen brought me a special older maroon work apron that she herself wore so I would always have something of hers and because she knew how much I loved aprons! Karen also surprised me with two Denny's Dog Beanies as they were giving them out at the time with a purchase where she worked and she knew I liked them and would love to have one :)
We started and worked on Mary's website while she was at my house and got it up and running, we had fun chatting and scanning pictures of Mary she had brought with her for Mary's website, that was when they still had the free geocities sites.
Mostly I just remember her big smiles and warm hugs!! We had spent years writing letters about how much we had in common with her Angel Mary and my Angel Michelle and we finally got to meet!!! What a Blessing it was for us both!!
I will always cherish my sweet memories of Karen, her friendship and her visit.
