I'm sending prayers to the family.
I am so sorry. I wish I could say the perfect words to express the great love and all the stories Karen's told me about your life together. Her face lit up talking about all of you.
if you knew Karen, you loved and admired Karen. We've shared so many laughs together and I will never find another friend I look up to more than Karen. She's meant so much to me. We were business partners for Manuscript Makeovers. We were friends. She felt like family. She was the first person I became acquainted with in The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. We formed a big critique group. We had to try and figure out how to "critique" Karen, because--GASP--her book's been on Reading Rainbow! What do we know?
I cannot believe she's gone, but I know she will never, ever be "gone." She is alive in each of our memories, and her love and legacy will forever be remembered. Her kind, sweet, gentle spirit and her quick smile and quick wit...well, no wonder, she was a writer. She was so special.
When those two grandbabies came along, I loved hearing about them both and felt like I knew them. She was so in love with them. Special love to each of you.
I am heartbroken and feel so sad and am crying a lot of tears, but I am also smiling and remembering lots of wonderful moments. Love to each one of you, Lorri Cardwell-Casey and family

Excepcional mujer
