Always Welcoming
Karen was always so very welcoming to us when visiting her home, whether in Sacramento or Kansas. She made a special effort to set a beautiful table for a meal or simply for coffee and a chat. When Paul and I visited her and the family in Kansas, she insisted on us staying in their master bedroom with their lovely master bathroom. She offered us special soaps, shampoos, lotions, and their best fluffy towels. It was like being at a fine hotel! She and Doug proudly showed us around their tiny, but quaint, Kansas town and their very interesting museum. On our second visit there Karen was quite ill, but we were able to talk, hug, and cry together. Even though it was a sad time, I will always treasure it. I can still remember the feeling of our last hug and how welcome she made me feel. I loved Karen and miss her.

Doug, I will never forget how lovingly and patiently you took care of Karen when she was ill.
What a Blessing She Was...
We were so fortunate to get to know Karen and Doug at Susan and Rick's wedding. We were even more fortunate to have her take care of our house and babies (2 boys, a dog and a cat) while we went away on vacation a couple times. She was a "God Send" and I know that she earned her angel wings while here on Earth. I've been very sad to know of her illness and pain and while I'm very sad for Doug and all the family that she's gone, I'm happy that she is no longer suffering. We felt as if she was our Aunt Karen too and will miss her thoughtful, caring ways. She was such a blessing to us all.

What a classy lady
What a very special lady! Karen was nanny to our three girls, and will be fondly remembered by all of us. She had tea parties with them...even crawling into the tiny playhouse to join them at the tiny table and chairs. She dressed their stuffed rabbits in ruffled dresses for play time and story time. She even once played a practical joke on me, by covering the girls faces with tiny colored sticky dots and then announcing to me at the door that they got Chicken Pox again...and then of course they all giggled like crazy! We will miss her. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
