Today would have been your 60th birthday. I think about where our lives would be right now if you were still here. What would our relationship be like? Would I be the same person? Certainly not.
I miss you the hardest when life's path is a question mark. Be in my heart and let me find you along the way. I love you mom.

A LETTER FROM HEAVEN

When tomorrow starts without me
and I'm not there to see
If the sun should rise and find your
eyes filled with tears for me

I wish so much you wouldn't cry
the way you did today
While thinking of the many things
we didn't get to say

I know how much you love me
as much as I love you
And each time you think of me
I know you'll miss me too

When tomorrow start without me
don't think we're far apart
for every time you think of me
I'm right there in your heart

Mom

This is the only the third time I've visited this page, because that shining face of yours in all these pictures is too hard to handle the pain it brings me. I am here feeling lonelier than ever on this night in my cabin. I created an alter for you in the corner with one of your last school photos, some beans from jungle trees in Costa Rica, shells, gratitude stones ,and other gems of mine. I've lit a candle for you and picked the first flowers I have ever laid in remembrance of you, fireweed. If you had ever made it up to Alaska I know it would have been your favorite. I miss you and need you more than I've ever realized. Please come into my dreams.... I love you

I don't know why, but you've been on my mind a lot today and I just wish I could give you a hug and see you smile!

I thought that I would miss you so, and never find my way.
And then I heard the angel say "She's with you every day."

Miss you here and love you very much

Hello beautiful sister. It's such a sad day for all of us who love you. I can't believe 2 years have passed since we lost you ... the hurt is still there like it was yesterday ... the disbelief too. I hope you know how much you were loved and stil are. I think of you all the time and wish so much you were here.

Karen - it's been two years since you left us. I hope your new home in Heaven is providing you joy, happiness, and comfort without all the fears, troubles, pain, and heartache that life here on Earth presented you. You are our angel and we hope that when you look down upon all of us that you loved, we bring you a smile - that beautiful smile of yours. You are missed, pretty lady.

WTTS is running their annual A to Z program again, which just started this morning, so they're still in the 'A' songs. They just played Sarah McLachlan's 'Angel', which is one of the songs that I set for your memorial video. Every time I hear that song it makes me stop and think of you and it never fails to bring a tear to my eye. Miss you.

You left us all far too early.
Your smile and warm heart are greatly missed.
I know that you're in a good home now in Heaven where you're keeping everything just so.
I hope you're looking in on all of us from time to time to check on us.
Now you know how truly loved you were. You are missed.

It is hard to believe this is the second year now that we have celebrated your birthday without you here. I miss you beyond what words could ever express, but I know you're in a happy place now, which is the only thing that comforts me. I think about you every day and I feel you with me everywhere I go. Happy (what would be) 52nd Birthday Momma. Forever in my heart, I love you <3

A Closet Confession

Shared by Elizabeth Brown on December 7, 2012

As is the case with most teenage sisters Karen & I would borrow each others clothes on a regular basis.  I use the word "borrow" loosely as it implies we actually gave one another permission!  For the record, both parties were guilty of this same relatively harmless crime.  However, since we went to different high schools, with Karen typically leaving the house first and getting home last, I had a HUGE advantage in the stealthful game I'm about to reveal.

Upon Karen's morning departure I would sneak into her closet to review my options for the day ... sifting through the myriad of shirts, riffling through stacks of sweaters and continually being disappointed I was too short for her pants.  As the day went on I would delight in my clandestine accomplishment as friends commented on liking my "new blouse".  After getting home from school I'd fly upstairs to change clothes hoping I didn't leave evidence of my misdeed behind ... like a stain from lunch or something incriminating left in a pocket.  This game went on for years until Karen left for college.  Imagine my disappointment when she took ALL her clothes with her!

It's now 3+ decades later and I still occasionally have dreams where I'm standing in her closet reviewing which item to filch that day and worrying if I'll get caught!

Drive-up bank teller

Shared by Elizabeth Brown on December 6, 2011

I remember how much fun Karen and I used to have playing "drive-up bank teller".  There was a window in our family room that opened up to the garage.  One of us would sit inside playing the role of bank teller.  The other would ride our bike up to the drive-up window playing the role of bank customer.  We played endless rounds of the deposit/withdrawal game using monopoly money ... which worked perfectly!  Then we would switch roles back and forth until we got bored (which was typically an hour tops).
