Karoly Pozsonyi, 82, of Roselle Park, New Jersey, passed away surrounded by his loving family on May 9, 2015.
Karoly was born and raised in Hungary and left his native country in 1956 due to the outbreak of the revolution. Upon traveling to the refugee camp in Rome, Italy, Karoly met and fell in love with Eva Tandari in 1958. They immigrated to the United States and were married on October 19, 1959. Karl and Eva settled in New Jersey and raised four children together. They spent the next 56 years together happily married.
Karoly (or Karl as he was also known) went back to school in the evenings to become a Machine Designer. But his passion was mineral and gemstone collection. He spent much of his free time searching for, mining, collecting and identifying many beautiful specimens. Karl also enjoyed listening to classical music, appreciated all forms of art, and loved to read.
Although he was a quiet and humble man, Karl’s quick wit, mischievous sense of humor, and likable nature drew people to him. He loved nothing more than to gather with his family, eat a delicious home cooked meal, and enjoy an afternoon cigar with his sons, brother-in-law, and son-in-law.
We will miss everything about the husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, cousin, friend that we lost. Karoly was a family man who loved spending time with those he loved. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, especially by those who loved him most—his family.
Karoly’s legacy will live on within his children and grandchildren, and we will always remember the values he instilled in us, the lessons he taught us, and the love he gave us. We will miss you, Dad, for the rest of our lives, and will remember and love you forever.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
