OBITUARY

Kasandra Denise Williams was born in Birmingham, Alabama on August 28, 1969 to Walemon Dave Williams and the recently departed Thelma Lee Williams.  She was the older of their two children.

Kasandra was educated in the Birmingham Public School system where she graduated from Scott Elementary and Jackson Olin High School.  She furthered her education by receiving a B.A. degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in pre-law from Talladega College.  She received her M.B.A. with a specialization in Management from Phoenix University.  While in college, Kasandra, became a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

Kasandra confessed her life to Christ at an early age joining Trinity CME Church in Pratt City with her parents.

Kasandra spent many years working in accounting.  She worked for O’Neal Steel Company in Birmingham, Alabama.  Later, she moved to the North East and began working for the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey.   But, just like her mother, Kasandra loved helping others.  She returned to Birmingham and began volunteering at the Central Alabama Women’s Business Center, tutoring women in the development of their business ideas and computer training.  While working and serving as a mentor, Kasandra became encouraged to write and published her first book, a memoir entitled, “Unhappily Never After.”  In 2014, she also created an inspirational based blog under the same name.

Kasandra was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend.  She was a daddy’s girl at heart.  Those that knew her loved her honesty, compassion and comforting nature.  We will also miss her hours long phone calls, listening to music, sharing old stories, her laugh, her beauty and perfect smile.  She was a great dancer and singer.   She adored her niece and nephews and they thought she was the “coolest” Auntie in the world.

On August 7, 2020, God called Kasandra to join her mother in his heavenly kingdom.  She departed this life at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.  She leaves to cherish her memory; her father, Walemon Williams; her sister, Tamara (Sam) Philogene; her niece, Cameron Philogene; her two nephews, Christian Philogene and Chase Philogene; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Our hearts are heavy and the pain can not be written in words. The only comfort to know, is that GOD IS IN CHARGE AND HIS WILL WAS DONE. Prayers for everyone. Alvis and Catrice.

College days have passed and gone but your beautiful smile I can still see all these years later. I am truly grateful of the time well spent together at Talladega and I am saddened for the loss of you. May God continue to bless and keep your family safe in his care. Thinking of you always with memories to treasure here in Charleston, South Carolina

You were my friend, my sister and the one I could share my life full of secrets with. Your positive advice and your kindness will forever stay in my soul. A rough Philly girl was transformed through your kindness to be more welcoming in the South. You were both beautiful inside and out and I will be forever thankful for the many talks, memories and support that you gave. I love you and I hope you rest well until we meet again.

Santa claus

August 14, 2020
She and her mom were walking in front of my grand momma's house' moving from mrs Carrie's her grandmother's to the other grandmothers next door. I came down off the porch to greet them with my grandma. She was carrying a plastic blow up Santa claus doll. We were both 3 years old. I asked to play with it. She put it behind her back and said no. I began to cry. Thelma fussed at her and made her give it to me to keep and made her say she was sorry. She then made her hug me. She began to cry so I gave it back and said I was sorry and gave her a hug so she could stop crying. I didnt want it anymore cause  I didnt have her with it. We hugged and played from that point on and became the best of friends. I loved her then, now and forever.
