A Columbus native, she was the daughter of LaMea Luke and Tony Hicks. She attended Kendrick High School and was a member of Forrest Park Baptist Church. A home-maker, Katherine was a lover of people, a wonderful cook and loved styling hair at her family's beauty shop, Sweet and Georgia Beauty Salon. She was preceded in death by a loving grandmother, Sarah "Sweet" Williams.

Surviving other than her parents are two sons, Xavion M. Luke and Xyon M. Luke; grandparents, Jackie and Pete Hicks and Ruben Luke; two sisters, Ayanna Spruance(Dorius) and Traniah Threatts; two nephews, Jeremiah and Joshua Spruance; aunts and uncles, Sheila Brooks, Clara Hicks, Vernon Anderson, Jr., Elizabeth Anderson, Lachelle Barnard and Georgia Roberson; a devoted cousin, Jessica Brooks; and a host of other loving cousins and friends.
