As classmates our parents often attend many events at the school. I was one to observe without many knowing I was observing. "Mrs Burke was a classy & proud Mom with deep rich chocolate skin. Which must have caught my attention. Making sure that her Kathy will make a stamp in the future was evident the way Kathy conducted herself. I remember walking up the stairs to the house for a birthday party and being welcomed with open arms. We were a cautious family from the Caribbean who were not welcomed too much. But, Mrs Burke invited me to her home for a birthday celebration for Kathy. I was treated with love." I had the pleasure of knowing Aunt Kat for many years. She is my son Darius great aunt. Through the years she has also showed kindness and concerns for him. Remembering his birthday's with cards and token of love which he will always treasure. Aunt Kat you will always in my heart.

My Mother - so beautiful, so strong, so proud of her girls, both Darlene and I are named after her, there is so much of her in us. I can't imagine how it gets easier not having her to talk to every morning, not going home on the weekend and getting my list of things to do. I think of her and wish I had another week, day or moment. My Mom was sassy - she would not take any nonsense and she was a giver. I am glad of the impact she had on Roman and Laney her grands are her glory. While these last days were tough for her, away from her home and slipping in and out of confusion she never stopped loving us, the Lord and life. I thank this amazing woman for all that she has provided, given and shared with me, farewell Leen.
