Kathleen “Kathy” M. McDonnell (nee Greene), 70, formerly of Maple Shade, NJ, peacefully passed away Friday, February 12, 2021 at Samaritan Hospice in Voorhees, NJ. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Walter and Margaret (nee Tinsley) Greene, husband Wayne N. McDonnell, Sr, and her beloved parrot, Sydney. Kathy is survived by her two sons, Wayne N. McDonnell, Jr. (Heidi) of Rockaway, NJ and Nicholas J. McDonnell (Amanda) and Grandson, Jameson McDonnell of Blackwood, NJ. Additionally, she is survived by her brothers, Thomas “Tommy” Greene of San Tan Valley, Arizona, and Gerald “Jerry” Greene (Karen) of Maple Shade, NJ, as well as, her niece, Kristin Greene and nephews, Alex Greene, Colin Greene (Nicole), Shawn Greene, Craig Greene, Christopher Greene, and great nephew C.J.

Kathy was raised in Maple Shade. She was a graduate of Merchantville High School in 1968. She went on to work at United Jersey Bank, and then eventually spent most of her employment history at RCA/Martin Marietta/Lockheed Martin in Moorestown, NJ.

Kathy was an avid animal lover, gravitating mainly towards birds and cats. She was instrumental in rescuing her “grandbaby,” Maxie, and ensuring her safety by providing her to her son and daughter-in-law. Due to her ailing health, Kathy was forced to retire earlier than expected. She enjoyed a quiet life solving crossword puzzles, completing puzzles, watching TV sitcoms, spending time with her cats “Snickers” and “Sammy”, and most importantly, spending her remaining time with her family.

The family would like to extend a tremendous thanks and gratitude towards the wonderful staff from Samaritan Hospice. Their dedication and professionalism and the dignity and respect that they provided towards Kathleen was most appreciated during her time of need.

Funeral services will be private at the family’s request.
