Her Life

Who is Kathy Reno

March 4, 2021

Kathy was one of 8 children born to Joseph and Georgia Jostes. She had 3 brothers Joe, Tom and Bob and 4 sisters Gerrie, Mary, Rosie and Kristy. She was a wonderful mother to her children James and Michelle well as being grandmother to 7 grandchildren Tiffany, Barhia, Zac, Arron, J, Angel and Sherlyn. She was also a great grandmother to 13 great grandchildren. She was a loving wife to Scott Reno.

Kathy was wonderful person with a heart of gold and a spit fire personality along with a great sense of humor. Kathy was stubborn and when she set her mind to something there was no changing it. To contrast her stubborn side was a loving side. She was always worried if you had everything you needed, and you were ok and if she could help. Most of the time she was simply happy to see you and spend time with you. She loved joking around and making you a laugh usually at her children’s expense. She was all in all a happy person that tried not to let all the bad stuff going on in this world or in her family’s lives bring her down. Kathy would just find the positive in the situation or try to do something to help. Kathy always was trying to help people in every way she could, it was like if she were not helping someone with something, she was not genuinely happy.

Kathy was a single mother raising 2 kids. She worked hard to make sure that she provides for them, making sure that they had everything they needed. Putting her life on back burner for them, also because her kids scared off anyone, she tried getting into a relationship with. Until her knight and shining armor came into her life. Scott Reno, he lived across the street from her sister Kristy, when Scott and Kathy got together it was like Kathy found what she longed for. Kathy uses to say I dream about him but never could see his face, but knew Scott was the one in her dreams. They were inseparable after that. James and Michelle would try everything to scare him off and nothing worked. Scott always got the better of them. Finally, James and Michelle gave up and decided it was nice to see mom happy. Scott and Kathy got married and Kathy was happy, and Scott made sure of it.

Kathy faced a lot of challenges during her life, divorced, raised 2 kids on her own, got remarried and faced almost losing her new husband to a kidney disease which required a Kidney transplant. She delt with several painful muscle disease’s yet lived her life to the fullest. She lost a brother and a sister to cancer, and another brother wheelchair bound and in a nursing home. Cancer struck her last January and she was ready to fight with everything she had. She did kemo and radiation and became very sick from the treatments but still got up to finish the fight. November was going to be the last treatment and the hope was that she won over cancer. In December she was retested to see if she was cancer free. She was not expecting the answer she received. The cancer had spread, and all her back and upper part of her body. Kathy was devastated, she finished her Christmas shopping and wrapping to have one last Christmas with her family. On Christmas day Kathy seemed to have had a stroke and was taken to the hospital, there she was told that she did not have a stroke that she had three masses of cancer on her brain, one was exceptionally large. Kathy lost the battle, cancer won Kathy was a fighter.

We all have great and wonderful memory’s of Kathy. Brothers and Sisters growing up with her. All the wonderful family gathering, from poker party to Christmas eve to birthdays. Her kid being raised and brought up by her love and crazy ways, from chasing them down the street to whoop their buts to running their car off the road, keeping them form making bad decisions. To holding them when they are down and sad to make them feel better. Her granddaughter Tiffany raising her like her own daughter, going through boy problems to getting to finish school. Or to all the wonderful trips she went on and the crazy things that happened on them, like hotels on fire to sinking cruise ships to tour bus crashes. The memories of Kathy could go on forever. But they are our memories, your memory and they will stay with all of us. These memory’s keep her alive in our hearts.
