The Love of a Child

March 15, 2012

Mom,  you will never know how much you meant to me and for that I am sorry.  Through all that you and I have been through (the good, great and other) I have never once stopped loving and thinking about you.  You were my first and best teacher in all things (academic and life).  When life threw me one of its greatest challenges you were there for me and my son.  When I was young you taught me how to learn lines for school plays and songs for choir.  Now I use those skills and talent for a career.  Your passion for the arts that you shared with me then, has become my passion over the last several years and has carried me through when I thought there was nothing left.  You also showed me that when it seems like the whole world is stacked against you, you never back down and keeping pushing forward to find the solutions to life's challenges.  I have employed that process more times then I have ever wanted to.  I can truly say that I will only miss you in a bodily sense, for everything that I do, say and am is part of you and I will have that comfort until I can see you again.  I love you, Mom!  Always have and always will.

There is another angel in heaven!

We know this because Kathy was an angel on earth, especially to the cats that were lucky enough to have been a part of her life.  Since we first met Kathy her love for her kitties was obvious.  Later we learned that her caring extended to all cats.  Kathy used to come into Feline Medical Center 3 times a week to volunteer her time doing a “Love Shift” giving the cats that are boarding and living here extra love and attention.  Often she would come in after working extremely long days.  Kathy was also very concerned and empathetic with people.  She always took the time to ask how you were and was genuinely interested in your answer.  We miss her greatly.

Kathy was the kindest woman I have ever had the honor of calling my friend.  She shared her time with me at Feline Medical Center, when she wasn't busy spoiling our kitties.  Even when she was tired or not feeling well, she would still come by.  I think that it helped perk her up especially when she was having a tough day.  I know she often helped perk me up.  It was so sweet of her to stop by the front desk at each of her visits to chat about the day with me.  She was great at helping me cheer up when I was having a tough day.
I first really go to know Kathy when she adopted a cat from us at Feline Medical Center.  She was a "difficult" kitty but Kathy new she was just misunderstood.  She saw right past her hissing and knew she could give Cinnamon the loving home she so deserved.
Kathy was so gentle and loving to everyone and every cat.
She loved Bob so much!  She spoke so highly of him all the time.  Her voice would get soft, she'd smile and her eyes lit up.
It makes me so sad that she's not going to come share her day with me again.  I'll always remember her kindness and generosity and will always be grateful that she was my friend.  I am sure she stopped at Rainbow Bridge to meet up with the precious cat companions she'd lost when she was still with us.  I hope she gave them a pet and a kiss from me.
