Kathryn J. Hahn (nee O’Kane) left her earthly family for a spiritual one, on April 18th. She was 92. Born in Philadelphia, the daughter of Samuel J. and Mary Rose (nee McCloskey) O’Kane, she grew up in Laurel Springs and lived for many years in Barnsboro. “Kass” was married to her World War II Naval sweetheart, John for 64 years and together they lovingly raised four sons-Dennis, Stephen, Kevin, and Rob. She loved mysteries, a gene inherited from her Mother, music, especially when played by family, and any TV show that featured characters putting aside their cares for a restorative family dinner. Kathryn enjoyed the simple pleasures of local Jersey produce and feeding the birds. She rejoiced in the discovery of Lady Slippers and Indian Pipes, as well as the perennial joy of flowering Dogwoods, emerald jack-in-the-pulpits, and flowers both wild and domestic on her beloved Holly Hill.
She is survived by sons Dennis and fiancé Ellyn Nodolski of Mullica Hill, Kevin and wife Victoria of Monroeville, Robert and wife Kay of St Louis Mo, sister Patricia Peterson of Sewell, brother Samuel O’Kane of Lynchburgh, VA, grandchildren Kevin of San Luis Obisbo, CA, Andrea of King of Prussia, PA and Cecelia of St Louis, MO, as well as a many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives spread across the US and Ireland.
Kathryn was predeceased by sister Rosemary O’Kane, son J. Stephen, brother Steve O’Kane and husband John.
Family and friends may visit on Monday, April 24 from 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM at the Church of the Incarnation, 240 Main Street, Mantua, NJ where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM. Interment will take place at Holy Name of Jesus Cemetery, Mullica Hill, NJ. In lieu of flowers, a donation to St. Josephs Indian School, PO Box 300, Chamberlain, SD 57325 would be appreciated. website: stjo.org
