Kathryn was born on May 2, 1933 in Torrington, Wyoming the daughter of Joe and Leona (Rooney) McManaman.  She grew up on a ranch north of Torrington where she attended the Burge Country School.  She went on to attend high school at St. Agnes Academy in Alliance, Nebraska where she graduated in 1951.
Kathryn married Robert Lee “Buck” Kirchner on June 3, 1952 and the couple made their home in Yoder and Torrington Wyoming until 1970 when they moved to Pueblo, Colorado where Buck was employed with C F & I mines.  They lived in Colorado until Buck’s death in 1987 and in 1988 Kathryn returned to Torrington. During her life time she worked at Wigwam Bakery, Torrington sales barns, Colorado sale barns, and at Goddard Stores (Ben Franklin).
Kathryn loved time with family and friends and her home was always open to all who “dropped by”.   She enjoyed playing cards, singing, and yard work.
In the spring of 2003, during a trip to Arizona, Kathryn suffered a stroke which changed her life dramatically.  It took most of her speech and mobility - but never her spirit.  She worked hard and with a lot of help from everyone, especially daughter-in-law, Sally, Kathryn found a new way of life - still inspiring those around her.  In 2011 she began yet another life change when she moved into the Goshen Care Center where her health continued to decline but she continued to amaze everyone by her “bouncing back” character.  But finally her race was “run and won” and she rests in the arms of the Jesus she loved so much.
She is survived by her daughter, Anna Marie Eaton of Torrington; three sons and daughters-in-law, James Lee (Jan) Kirchner of Pueblo, CO; Michael William (Sally) Kirchner of Torrington, and Kent Alan (Paula) Kirchner of Pueblo, CO; 9 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; a brother Leo McManaman and a sister Martina McManaman She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a son-in-law, David Eaton.

Spring 1988. Mom and I were checking on the calves. A cow and calf had gotten into alfalfa field. Cow didnt make it. started chasing calf on foot with rope while mom gave chase in truck. Calf was on a dead run when I got it roped. I to was running. The rope went tight and the momentum kept me going. I couldnt plant my feet. The whole time mom is yelling dont let go! Dont let go! Well the calf jumed through the fence. Yup barbed wire fence. Mom dont let go. Dont let go. I didnt. I hit the fence the rope started pulling through my hands as I was half drug and half flipped over fence. caught rope with other hand. All the time I could hear mom, dont let go. got a dally around fence post and started surveying damage. My pants were shredded, crotch to almost ankle. My little finger and ring finger were bleeding from the gaping gash. It was then that I thought I heard mom crying. Turned to find her literally squirming on the ground in laughter. I hollerd, hey mom I am hurt over here. For some reason mom thought that was even better. Never heard my mom laugh so hard. Once she regained some composure she said funniest thing she had ever seen. She couldnt look at me without laughing for days. LOVE YOU MOM
