I only knew your mom for a few short years. I first met her when she came to listen to our band. Kathy always had a kind word and a smile for me. What is better than that?

My Dearest Pretty Lady, oh the good times we have had, the songs we have sung and the happy and sad tears we have cried. I miss you so deeply, I can't put it into words. I truly know what a broken heart feels like. You where the brightest light in the room with the prettiest smile ever. I know now the saying "Only the good die young" is true. I do take a little comfort in knowing the only way you would have gone was, because you found your happy place. Until we meet again. LOVE YOU !    Jewels.

Her Life

My Mom

February 20, 2021
Obviously,  I have only known mom as mom.  So I will do my best to tell her story based on what I know.  Kathy's obituary is listed first and then a personal history.

Obituary:
Kathy Elaine Sue Thompson 65, passed peacefully on November 18, 2020, due to sudden cardiac arrest. She was taken much too soon. Kathy loved people and served them well, especially as the owner extraordinaire of 3 Lakes Resort in Minnesota. She made everyone feel special and welcome. Kathy was the life of the party with the biggest smile and most contagious laugh. She loved well; the people around her, her family, the dogs that came to visit and the birds that delighted her each morning. Kathy was a hard worker and instilled that work ethic in her three children. She was a wonderful mother always there emotionally and physically for her kids, Quick to help and give advice. There is a void in our hearts and she is so missed! Kathy is preceded in death by Bernard Mirochnick. She is survived by her children Sarah Weiss, Eric Kenna, Jeff and Jaimee Kenna, grandchildren Alexa and Milo Kenna.

Personal History:
Kathy was the adopted daughter or Bernie & Louise Mircohnick from her birth.  She lived much of her young life in Illinois.  Through her marriages she was blessed with her three children Jeff, Eric, and Sarah.   Kathy was a strong fighter and survived a brain aneurysm in 2004 along with many other struggles throughout her life.  After her last divorce she spent her time focused on being with her children and grandchildren and living life to the fullest.

Mom ran many different business in her life and if you were luck enough have interacted with her than you know what I mean.  She ran everything from a fish store, to a restaurant, to a shipping business.  However her true passion and joy can from being the owner and manager of Three Lakes Resort in MN.  If you had the pleasure to stay there they you know how much she enjoyed interacting with people and seeing them have fun.  She ran Three Lakes Resort for more than 20 years and grew close with the families that vacationed there.  About 10 years ago she decided to spend the winters in Florida and found a great place to call her own on Matlacha.  In the winter she enjoyed working with and supporting her coworkers for a local art gallery and she also loved interacting with costumers.

Mom was always willing to help in anyway that she could.  She was full of kindness and generosity and did her best to spread joy to everyone.  She was an extremally hard worker and passed that trait on to her children.  I know there is much more to her life that I do not know about so please add your stories that involve Kathy.  She will live on forever in our hearts and memories.

Mom loved her grand dogs and they all came from the same animal rescue, Bounce Animal Rescue. If you would like to make donations in Kathy's name please visit:

Mom you are one of the most vibrant humans I will EVER know.  Your ability to light up a room with your smile, in action with that very contagious laugh. Listening to the people that you care about wholeheartedly, without judgement, ALWAYS supporting what folks wanted and needed for them to live their best life.
You are a true example of living.
Always ready with a crafty idea.
Always willing to lead a helping hand.
Always trying your best to make good out of any situation.
Always speaking from your heart.

Saying that I miss you, seems like the understatement of my 37 years.  I"ll tell you this though.  I'm going to live Mom, with love, smiles and laughter.  You taught me that, along with many other things that I will do my best to continue to make you proud.
Love you so much,
Geebee

I just cannot believe that you are gone and even though I know you are in a better place, I miss you so much and am so sad for the things we will not get to do together.  I know you are watching from Heaven and I look forward to seeing you again!!  Love you.
