Katrina DeShawn James (Cole), 42, formerly of Athens, AL, born 8/28/1980 to Lexie Gwen Sanders (1956-2003) & Billy Thomas James (1957-2017) (both deceased of Athens) passed from this life on 4/20/23 at Princeton Baptist Medical in Birmingham, due to complications from diabetes. She was Baptist, a ‘98 graduate of Athens High, & of the EMT program of Calhoun College, & worked many years at Athens Hospital. She is survived by her spouse, Samuel Cole, of Birmingham; her aunt Rita (Billy) Jackson, as well as Will, Brandon, Brianna, & Brody Jackson all of Athens. She is preceded in death by 4 babies, her parents, her grandparents, Otis & Opal Sanders, Athens; & Sarah (JT) James of Punkin Center, AL. Her cremains will be in Cunningham Cemetery of Salem, AL. A memorial near her birthday 8/27/2023 in Athens will honor her life.
