        In Memory of my Loving Father 
   Keith Lowell Coakes 

In memory of my Beloved Father. My Buddy, a grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and a friend, went home Oct. 5, 2014. Dad was born Nov. 24, 1923 in Bennington Township, the son of Roy and Florence (Spivey) Coakes. Dad Attended schools in Owosso and served in World War II from 1942 to 1946. He was in the Army Air Corps in Africa and in Europe as a photo gunner in the B-24 460th Bomber group. In 1943, he married Addaline Schonwandt in Salt Lake City, Utah, and in 1945, his daughter Kay was born. From 1947 to 1949, he attended Electronics school and in 1950, his daughter Linda was born. From 1949 to 1953, he was a radio engineer with Michigan Conservation Dept. And from 1953 to 1955 he was a staff engineer at Michigan State College. Mr. Coakes was an electronics foreman with the Air Force in the Azores from 1955 to 1961. From 1961 to 1984, he worked several positions with the city of Owosso including 10 years as the Director of Public Services.

He is my Buddy and a Loving Father and Grandfather and Greatgrandfather.. Every summer we would go to East Tawas Bay, Which he loved. Dad loved to build computers from scratch and was an Amateur Radio Operator, He was WA8KYB.

(He carried out his orders and answered the call. Dad so loved his call to duty for his country. Now his Duty with life is over and a new call of duty is waiting for him with his Heavenly Father and family and with His comrades of World War II.)

He was preceded in death by his father Roy R. Coakes in 1984; mother Florence A. Coakes in 1984; wife Ilda Coakes 1989.  sister Mary Conrad in 1989; first wife Addie Neuteboom in 1994; Sandy his four- legged Companion in 2009.

He leaves behind sister Marjorie Strauch of Durand; daughters Kay L. Scheel of Las Vegas, Nevada, Linda S. Coakes of Owosso; grandchildren Troy Nielsen, Steve Hemminger, Marian Gorman; eight great grand children; Riley, his four-legged little buddy.

Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in association with Mowen Funeral Home of Owosso.
