Five years in heaven already. Seems hard to believe on our end. I sure never thought John would join you this year. I am jealous of all our friends that he is with now and so looking forward to when I can be there, too. I had no idea how deep the pain was that Wendy went through when you died. I guess I should have since you were so very young. It makes no sense from earth's perspective that God would have taken you to heaven as you were such a great guy and did so much for others down here. But, now John, another servant heart, is gone, too. We will never understand in our lifetime why your time was too soon in our eyes, but, look forward to a better understanding in eternity with you and Jesus and all the saints.

Though we have been a part for far to long I have ALWAYS considered Kelly my Best Friend. I fell ill the day he died. From the afternoon till the time he pasted. I didn't know what it was all day. It just wouldn't go away. Then I got the message that he had pasted during that time. Then it all made sense. We were that close. I just couldn't make the connection at the time. I will miss him so very much. He was the only one in my life time that ever came close to understanding me. I have yet to meet his intellectual equal. He would always make me have to think. Something I rarely get to do any more. I always had so much more potential when he was around. We made a great team. Like Kirk and Spock. "I have been and always shall be your friend" Kelly. Life will never be the same. Godspeed and Peace Be Your Journey, Brother. Love You.

To the Taylor family, my sincere condolences for the loss of your loved one. As you cope with your loss, may you be comforted by the "Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort" (2 Cor 1:3) that one day, "all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out." (John 5:28, 29) May these promises from our Heavenly Father give you comfort now and real hope for the future. Deepest sympathy.

Wendy I am so sad at your loss. I am glad that Kelly was in of your life even though for far too short a time. The love and respect you had for each other was obvious to everyone. The respect and love between Lyndsey, Brittany and Kelly was also clear. He was a good man who was taken too soon from you. I trust God will give you the strength to endure. Love, your other father.

We will miss Kelly sooo much! What a blessing to have known him and loved him. He was such a funny guy who was always ready with some "smart alecky" thing to say, and of course, wonderful words of encouragment. Kelly's kindness, love, and joy of life have made a permanent mark in our hearts. We thank our God for allowing us such a wonderful privilege as having Kelly be a part of our lives. <3 Ben, Brandy, Uriah, and Samuel

I'm never good at putting into words what is in my heart. Right now our hearts break for Wendy, Lyndsey, and Brittany. I can't even begin to list the wonderful memories we have of Kelly. Well, maybe a few, like the Chinese Thanksgiving, his coming over to work on John's truck on Easter, the laughs we had sharing puns, DeColores, Lighthouse, and all his words of encouragement. We had sadly drifted apart since the move to Florida, but, he will always be in our hearts. Looking forward to our reunion someday!

Thank you Kelly for all that you have been to everyone who knew you. As children you were a special cousin to me. Family reunions were fun because you and Joey would let me play games as if I were one of the guys. You treated me like I mattered. Looking back on those days, anyone could see the special light within you. We grew up in different states and did not get much time together but out of our huge family, you were one that always held a special place in my heart. I'm so happy that Wendy and the girls came into your life. Spending time with Brittany and listening to her talk about your impact in their lives shows how much love you had to give. You are missed by many but don't worry as a family we will keep in touch with your family and do our best to be there for them. RIP sweet Kelly. Fly with the angels and sing with the saints. Enjoy your conversations with Jesus. Till we meet again. Love you always, your cousin, Laurie Ann

Kelly grew up in Kalamazoo, MI. He still has an abundance of relatives and friends that shared his childhood years into his adulthood. Memories of Kelly will always be precious to us because of his kindness, loving, spirited and intelligent persona. Our hearts ache but will always feel his presence. Feeling so sorry for Mom Taylor, Joey, and Beth. Prayers and peace to everyone that Kelly had made a place into their hearts.

Fond Memories

November 20, 2017

Will and I have many fond memories of Kelly.  We both loved working with Kelly while we were at Johnson! He always made the time pass quickly at work with his lively spirit. Will recalls many theological talks with Kelly. He also remembers how patient Kelly was with him as they made repairs all over campus. The time he took to teach Will how to repair his car was also one of Will's best memories. Kelly could have just done the repair but it was important to Kelly that he could teach Will how to fix it so he would know in the future. I, Jess, remember how much Kelly thoroughly enjoyed life. I loved Kelly's ability to push the envelope and to explore new topics. He was always ready for an adventure.

We both enjoyed spending time with Kelly and Wendy as a couple. These two have had a huge impact on our lives as a couple. They mentored us before we were married, and tried to teach Will and I to love each other unconditionally, and to show Christ in our relationship. They helped to set a good example for us in how to talk with each other and how to treat each other with a mutual respect and trust that we still strive to maintain today. Wendy and Kelly always made time for us! They were and still are our family. We love you both.

Kelly, you will truly be missed but we know for sure that you are living it up in Heaven as we speak. Here's to you, Kelly, and the great guy you were to all of us. You truly showed us what it was like to walk with Christ.

With Love,

Will and Jess Smith

So honored to have Kelly read 1 Corinthians 13 4-8 at our wedding, no one better to share such a passage on Love.  Thank you Kelly, we love you.

John's smile

November 14, 2017

Not a lot of people can get John to even have his picture taken, yet alone be smiling in it.  This picture was taken at our house when Kelly and Wendy were back in Grand Haven for a visit.  It was so good to see them after they had moved to Tennessee!!
