You can have many role models and important characters in your life but few as special as Mr. Geer. He was a gentle voice who loved to grin big. He was the man who introduced you to history and made you fall in love with it. He used to let us listen to old radio mysteries on Friday afternoons. He always took great pleasure in students who would return to see him. He was a great God fearing man who helped positively shape and mold many youth. I have no doubt where he gets to spend eternity. The Lords armies gained a mighty warrior in this man. Rest In Peace sir. You have earned it.

I remember Mr. Geer as one of the best teachers! He brought history to present-day life! He was my teacher at Ridgecrest in 1981. I clearly remember when he scrambled to find a television so that we could watch the first launch of the space shuttle in 1981, Ronald Reagan's assassination attempt news coverage, teaching us about John F. Kennedy's assassination, teaching us about the war in Viet Nam and the protests and WHY there were protests. Mr. Geer and his passion for teaching will never be forgotten. What a beautiful man.

I had not talked to Mr. Geer since about 3 years after i left Ridgecrest Elementary (graduated Ridgecrest in 82). I was never a very good student and never really got along with most of my teachers but I liked Mr. Geer. He was a good teacher and treated people with respect. He was stern when he needed to be but fair and caring at the same time. He is the only teacher I ever came back and visited with after I had left his class. He was a good man and will be missed.

Both of our girls were blessed to be loved and taught by Ken in the youth Sunday School at Hilltop! He invested in them and they grew in the Lord! I will forever be grateful for his influence on them and by extension his influence on me. He had such a gracious, loving heart, and it showed in the way he ministered to his “kids”. I will be greatful to spend eternity with him. May God bless you and your families during this difficult time. Love in Christ

Kenneth Wayne Geer (1945-2019)

Kenneth Wayne Geer, born on August 22, 1945, went to his final home to be with Jesus on January 11, 2019.  He was born to Hilton and Viola Geer at San Diego Naval Air Base in California. Ken grew up in the Capitol Hill area of Oklahoma City where he graduated from Southeast High School.  He then went on to Central State in Edmond to become a teacher. Ken was drafted into the U.S. Army and served 2 years in Korea. Returning home safely, he taught in public education for over 36 years.  Some of his schools include Prairie Queen, Capitol Hill Middle School, Ridgecrest Elementary, and Southern Hills Elementary. He was an active member in church his whole life; some of the churches he served in included Lambath Memorial Methodist Church, Southern Hills Baptist Church, Hilltop Baptist Church, First Southern Baptist Church, Grace Place Baptist Church, and Crestview Baptist Church.  He was a devoted father and a true patriot to his country. He is survived by his son, Joshua Geer, and daughter, Jessica Fields. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy, and her husband Bob Bedingfield. He also has two grandchildren, Sophia and Viola Fields. Ken has numerous cousins and other family members who continue to live in and around the Oklahoma City area. Services will be held at Grace Place Baptist Church at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 19th.  In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations made in his name to Little Ones Ministry or the Alzheimer’s Association. His impact on Oklahoma and its citizens will live on for generations.
