A phone call from Ikenna your brother informed me that you were at the hospital in Maitama. I forgot sleep though very tired and asked my driver to rush to the address.
Met you in a devastated condition with tubes plugged in all over your body, Nkeiru was already there.
And so the last chapter of your young life slowly unfolded.
We did everything to make you comfortable. We were on the hospital care givers necks to see that they performed their duties. You were restless. You said you wanted to go back to the shop to do your business. You said you felt like you were sinking in a hole. You wanted to take the tubes off but we calmed you down.
A lot of friends came to visit you, the hospital room was overcrowded so we had to usher them away and assured them you'd be alright. And so dragged the long night into the early morning.
I mentioned that I was about to leave but you insisted that no one was leaving. I had to leave because I was on official duty from my office, infact I had been at logger heads with my supervisor and it resulted in me insisted that I was not going to continue with the project up North and wanted to come back to Lagos.
I knew you were in good hands with Nkeiru there, so I said my goodbye and proceeded back to my hotel to grab my belongings and continue my journey.
Well, the rest is history. I later got a call from Ikenna the next day. He was in tears and said that you had left.
Rest on my brother till we meet again.
Man that is born of woman is of few days and so filled with trouble.
