Family of Kenny

 Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Dorothy; daughter, Carol (Bob Rotherham) of Norfolk; son, Johnny (Jeanne) of Madison; daughters Julie Reigle of Lakewood, CO, and Connie (Rory Weidner) of Madison; ten grandchildren Robin Matthes (Kent), Carissa Husbands (Brian), Ross Rotherham (Michelle, Jennifer Stone (Brian), Andy Reigle (Alison), Jesse Weidner (Abbie), Jami Maxey (Justin), Jeremy Weidne r(Kayla), Jordynn Weidner, and Jaclynn Weidner; two step-grandchildren, Jessica Bender (Craig) and Jason Harper; and 18 great grandchildren. Other survivors include sister, Dona Lee (Lloyd Lutjens) of Columbus and sister-in-law, Carola Reigle of Albion. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack Reigle; sister and brother-in-law, Fern and Duane King; great grandson, Gabriel Joseph Maxey; niece, Becky Petersen; and nephew, Kenny King.

Later Years

He enjoyed road trips with Dorothy ending up at their favorite casino. Also time spent at cattle sales and conversations with his many friends acquired over the years were among his most treasured memories. Kenny was a life time member of the United Methodist Church, American Legion, and V.F.W.

Family Times

Kenny’s special times were spent with family such as the annual Father’s Day weekend in Yankton, and following grandchildren and great grandchildren’s school and sporting events.

Farmer, Cattle Feeder and Cattle Buyer

Kenny was a farmer, cattle feeder, and cattle buyer. Together he and Dorothy built Reigle Farms, a three generation farming and cattle feeding operation. Kenny was respected for his honesty and integrity. He was a man with a strong commitment to his faith, family, and the cattle industry. Kenny was a widely recognized figure in the livestock market industry. His years of experience and knowledge along with taking the time to mentor others led to many lifelong friendships.

Reigle Family

 They began their married life on the farm northwest of Newman Grove and moved southeast of Madison in the fall of 1957. Kenny and Dorothy were the parents of four children, Carol, John, Julie, and Connie.

Kenny And Dorothy Married

Kenny returned home and resumed farming. On October 5, 1952 Kenny married Dorothy Ann Miller at the Newman Grove United Methodist Church.

Kenny Military Service

April 4, 2017

In January 1951 he was drafted into the U.S. Army and attended basic training at Fort Riley, Kansas. He served in the Korean War with the 1st Cavalry, Division 1, 7th Regiment, 1st Battalion, Company C (Charley’s Company). Kenny was wounded on October 12, 1951 and hospitalized for three months in Japan. He completed his tour of duty and was honorably discharged on April 7, 1952. He was awarded a Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations Service Medal, Bronze Star, and Army Occupation Medal. He took great pride in serving his country and sharing “his story”.

Schools Days

Kenny attended Newman Grove High School. Following his graduation in 1945,  Kenny farmed with his father northwest of Newman Grove.
