Ken passed away on Monday, October 31, 2011 as a result of a motor vehicle accident south of Wisner, NE.

Kenneth Gene Ebel was born January 29, 1959 at Norfolk, Nebraska to Wayne and Eleanor (Marksmeier) Ebel. He was baptized on February 15, 1959, received his first communion on May 28, 1967 and later confirmed on May 10, 1971 all at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wisner, NE. Ken attended Cuming Co. Rural School District #49 until 1966 when the school closed and finished his schooling at Wisner Public School, graduating from Wisner-Pilger High School in 1977. After graduation, he began working at Beemer Lumber as a carpenter until 1980. Ken was employed by Lonnie Roth Feedyards from 1980 until 1990. On June 24, 1989, he was united in marriage to Traci Roth at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wisner and was later confirmed there on October 15, 1989. In 1990, they moved to Urbandale, IA, where Ken was a hog buyer for IBP. The couple moved to Lockwood, MO in May of 1991, where they operated the Lockwood Sale Barn, he later was the cattle manager for Leo Radar Farms and they also operated a cow/calf herd. While in Lockwood, he was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, serving as an usher; coached his daughter Abbi’s basketball team; and was known as the “2nd Vet” in the area. The whole family enjoyed their Sunday afternoons while checking the cows. The family returned to Wisner in August of 2007 and Ken has been employed by Vollmer Feedyards. Ken was currently a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wisner, serving as an Elder and Usher and was also a Farm Bureau member. Ken loved working with cattle, being outdoors, fishing, and hunting, was a big Husker fan, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He always thought his greatest accomplishment was his daughter Abbi. He could always be seen fixing or working on something and was currently restoring his father’s H tractor.

Ken is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great niece and great nephews.

Ken was preceded in death by his mother-Eleonor Ebel, father-in-law-Lonnie Roth, paternal grandparents-Frank and Blanche Ebel, and maternal grandparents-Joseph and Theresa Marksmeier.
