Kenneth Paul Cushman, 70, of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away at Tidewell Hospice House on April 4, 2014. Born to Francis & Mary (Nava) Cushman, Kenny grew up in the Kingston, MA area. He served on the Kingston Fire Department until his retirement in 1980. Kenny was also a plumber and master pipe fitter. Kenny moved to the Port Charlotte area with his wife Wendy in the early 80's where they raised their family.

Kenny was an avid motorcycle rider for many years, traveling to every state in the continental US, often alone & sometimes with very special friends. He was a life member of ABATE- Peace River Chapter. His Harley was his friend, therapy & his daily enjoyment. Kenny & Cheri created wonderful moments on bike trips, riding together & side-by-side. He loved NHRA drag racing and shared many racing adventures with his cousin Norman. The fire service never left his heart & he loved his brothers still serving. When he would hear the sirens he still called out " Go get 'em Big Red!!". Kenny never met a stranger & had a very large extended family of special friends.

Kenny was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 38 years, Wendy (Butler) Cushman, his daughter Jill Carson, his son Michael Cushman, his parents Francis & Mary Cushman, and his bonus daughter Kodi McDonald.
Left behind to love & cherish memories is his wife of 10 years, Cheri, & his lovely daughter Trisha Childress. Known as 'YaYa' by his 5 grandchildren are Allyson, Emily, Elliott, Briggs and Charlie Childress. Also, his bonus daughter, Tyra McDonald, his brother & sister-in law David & Judy Cushman. Kenny had a very large family who love him.
His cancer came quick. His suffering was short. Kenny always said "Ride hard, ride safe". He said "Tell them I was not wearing a helmet!".

A memorial open house is being planned for May 10, 2014, 2-5:00 at his home in Punta Gorda. In lieu of flowers please donate to the charity of your choice. Thank you to everyone for their thoughts & prayers during his fast & furious final adventure.

The love of my life, my heart aches. Missing you so much but grateful your suffering is over. May you be feeling the wind in your hair and bugs in your teeth on the great golden Harley road in the sky. I will love you forever. ~C

Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers sending positive healing energy your way. How difficult it is to lose someone you love and cherish so deeply. How lucky he was to have 2 wonderful wives that loved him so well! I only knew him as Norm and he was a dear friend to all. I am sure going quickly was his idea to spare everyone. You know Norm he did like to do things his way. Love, Laurie
