Kenneth “Dick” Mullally, 81, passed away in his home in Peoria on February 9, 2020.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue, in Peoria. Internment, at Swan Lake Memory Gardens, will follow the service at the funeral home.
Dick was born March 24, 1938, in Peoria, the son of Richard and Margaret (Kowalski) Mullally. He married Ina Lucille Lane on April 8, 1961, in Peoria. Survivors include his wife, of 59 years; his children Jenny (Brad) Fowler of Peoria Heights and Kenny (Theresa) Mullally of Peoria; his grandchildren Alyssa and Quinn Mullally; and his step-grandchildren, Paige Adelman and Rodney Watkins.
He was known best for his outgoing and “ornery” personality, pulling pranks on family and friends (all in good fun, of course). Dick was known by his family and close friends as kind and dedicated, always willing to go the extra mile for those he loved.
Dick worked as a fleet mechanic for the Peoria Journal Star until his retirement in 1998, after 39 years of service. He served his country and community as a tank driver in the Illinois National Guard before his honorable discharge at the rank of sergeant in 1966.
In retirement he, along with Lucille, attended numerous car shows with his prized Model A Ford and 1971 Mercury Cyclone. In the evenings he enjoyed talking with his friends on his CB radio, where he was known by the name “Irish.”
Memorial contributions may be made in Dick’s memory to TAPS, in honor of his love for pets, and OSF Children's Hospital of Illinois.
