Friends,
It is really hard to believe that Kevin has been  "In The Light Of Heaven" for 7 years now.  It seems like just yesterday he went home to Jesus. Much has happened since then, Kevin now has 2 more grandchildren, Vera and Jasper and his oldest granddaughter Zoe- has just graduated from high School.
Congratulations are surely in order.

If I could send a message from my older brother, it would be to tell everyone to Stay Strong.  Be unshakable in your faith for we have the victory in Christ. Never stop sharing about the HOPE that is in you thru Christ Jesus. Your work for the Lord is not in vain because His word will never return void.

During Kevin's years as a quadraplegic, he stayed strong- always encouraging others and never letting the enemy rob him of the joy he knew was coming. There were times he would call me to encourage me when he know I was having difficulties.  But none of my difficulties came close to what he was experiencing.  Kevin would often talk about the old days when the harvest was ripe. Looking back, it was an experience I will never forget.  I am STILL very blessed to hear so many stories of people coming to Christ at one of the Sweet Comfort Band concerts. It has been my greatest honor and priviledge to be a part in what God is doing.  So please keep those testimonies coming.
You can send them to me thru Sweet Comfort Band's facebook page.

I look forward to hearing from you.  Until then...

The LORD bless you, and keep you;
The LORD make His face shine on you,
And be gracious to you;
The LORD lift up His countenance on you,
And give you peace.’

Rick Thomson

But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. (1 Cor. 15:50-58)

Dear Friends,

I can't thank you enough for keeping my brothers memory alive. It seems like just yesterday that he went home.  Still very tough for me! He is surely missed.

Dear Friends,

Yesterday was a tough one for me after posting Kevin's photo on the Sweet Comfort Band's facebook page.  Even though I know he's in a much better place, I still miss him- especially since the band has reunited and are about to release our 7th album without him.Thanks for your continuing tributes to my brother and know that we still read the notes and stories that so many of you have shared.  You all have so many great memories of Kevin.  We cherish each and every one of your notes and stories about him.  Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart. May Our Heavenly Father continue to bless you more than you could ever imagine.

Rick Thomson

I am saddened by the loss to the earth, but will always think of how every time I saw Sweet Comfort perform, the quiet awesome bass player gave such a powerful witness. I will get to know him there.

Better Late than never

July 29, 2011

I was the trumpet player who played with the SCB live horn section with Saul Miller & Dave Lebo (sp?) in 1979 - 1980.  One thing about Kevin was that he always went out of his way to make sure we (the horns) were well taken care of!  At the time, Saul & myself were in the U.S. Air Force Band stationed at March AFB, Riverside....... once we were playing in Sacramento  & needed to be back the next day for duty, yes the very next day! Kevin drove his car separate the band "motorhome"? if I remember correctly, just so that he could drive us back all night, straight through to make sure we made it in time! I knew he was so tired, but he never even gave a sigh! The only stop before dropping us off at our homes was at "Nogles" (sp?) to buy us breakfast burritos! Great times for me as a young christian, and what an experience to share the stage with all four of these wonderful musician & brothers! One thing I will always remember was after the concerts these guys were usually NOT signing autographs, but rather you would see them praying with the young people who came to see them play. Today I have hanging on the wall in my music room, a framed poster from the New Years Eve Concert at Swing Auditorium that reads - New Years Eve Concert featuring Sweet Comfort Band with special guest Daniel Amos and special message from Greg Lourie - Like Eteranl Life - It's Free!  I remember it was recorded via a mobile studio, maybe someone could track it down & release it as Sweet Comfort Live at Swing Auditorium. God Bless!
