I first met Kim at summer camp when we were in grade school.  We went to different schools but, kept in touch.   After high school we became roommates while in junior college.  It comes as no surprise that Kim became an avid bicyclist as that was our primary mode of transportation and she would beat me on the ride to class on a regular basis.  I am saddened by her passing but, pleased to know that her life was the life she talked about as a kid and her  tenacity, fearlessness and stubborn streak never left her.  I am lucky to have known her.  My thoughts and prayers are with Joe and all the Lemmonds.

Kim had a strong life force and will to live life on her on terms.  She was such an inspiration to all, with her courage, vivaciousness and tenacity. She has a following of former students who admire her for all the love, time and wisdom she gave all of them. I will never forget the feeling of pride  and happiness I had when I went to her retirement party from Colorow Elementary School.  There were many friends and colleagues talking so highly of her and I saw a glimpse of her life that I did not get to experience up close, and I felt so fortunate to see how many lives she touched.
Kim became a road biking enthusiast because of her husband Joe and they rode all over.  She would ride days after her chemo treatments and conquer the rode. I remember one long ride with Kim through Deer Creek and on the way back she was flying down the mountain with such speed and I remember thinking two things as she raced out of sight: #1 Just don't fall Kelly and  #2 Wow, Kim is F#%1ing fearless.
I thank God for having such a loving sister and Auntie for my children.  And, I thank God for her adventurous and fulfilling life with her husband Joe and for all the quality time she was able to spend with her family.

From Maddox (Kim's nephew), 12 years old

I always knew that there was a special spark in my Aunt Kim. My Aunt Kim was a fighter. Whether she was laughing or just talking to me and my family, I felt special. Whenever I saw her, there was a part of my heart that shined.  When I talk with her at Christmas about how blessed she was, I didn't really understand.  But now it's clear as ever because she was blessed to have a great life, with a great family who would give the world for her.  I am someone who believes that when someone passes away, they are not gone, they are not done.  As a mater of fact, they are just starting.  In heaven, she is happy and that's all we ever wanted for her.
My Aunt Kim will always be in my heart.

Amazed at Kim's strength and determination

June 1, 2014

I rode my bike up Deer Creek Canyon with Joe and Kim many years ago.   She rode up the steep incline with such great ease and so fast.

What amazed me was this ride was only a day or two after one of Kim's chemo sessions. From what I understand chemo can wipe out any energy a person has. But she rode than canyon like she was determined to beat her cancer. She was strong and rode like a champion. Needless to say, that day she left me in the dust.

I saw first hand what strength and determination Kim had and how it served her till the end. Kim, you are a hero to me.

Ride on in peace
