The Association of Nigerian Musicologists (ANIM) mourns the demise of a great scholar in the person of Prof. J. H. Kwabena Nketia.
Unlike many who lived on the planet earth, yet it is as if they never existed, Prof kwabena left legacies on many fronts especially in the areas of African Musicology and Research. Parting times are always difficult to comprehend, yet the realities are before us. As we commend you to your creator, we pledge to continue your legacies on many fronts. Play on the hemiola, the ostinato, the additive rhythm and vocal improvisations associated with the music of indigenous Africa.
Fare thee well great scholar, fare thee well doyen of African music studies. You live in our minds, you will always be great.
Adieu! Adieu!! Adieu!!!
