His Life

Pugh was born November 4, 1951 to his late
parents, Alonzo and Lillie Tarver Pugh in
Hurtsboro, Alabama. He was educated in the
Bullock County public schools system and graduated in 1971 from
Merritt High School in Midway, Alabama.

L.C. accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age
and became a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church in
Hurtsboro, Alabama. He served there diligently until he moved to
Detroit, Michigan in January 1979. Upon his arrival in Detroit, L.C.
connected with fellow believers at Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist
Church in Detroit. Upon his return to Alabama in November
2008, L.C. and his family united with the Greater Pleasant Grove
Missionary Baptist Church. There he was ordained as a deacon on
August 14, 2011 under the leadership of his pastor, Rev. Arnather
Baxter.

L.C. served his country honorably in the United States Army from
August 1971 to April 1972. L.C. worked tirelessly for Chrysler
Motors for over 35 years in Detroit. On July 7, 1977, L.C. was joined
in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Bertha Landers Pugh.
From this union, they were blessed with three beautiful children.
L. C. answered His master’s call to rest early in the morning on
Saturday, July 4, 2015 at the Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Joe L.
Pugh, Lewis Pugh, Jerry Pugh, Jimmy Pugh, and John L. Pugh.

 

L.C. leaves fond memories to celebrate his life with his devoted
wife, Bertha Landers Pugh; his children, Denay (Santavious)
Bennett of Union Springs, Alabama, Danielle Pugh and Lee Carson
Pugh, both of Tuskegee, Alabama, a foster son, L.C. Lamont Harris
of Columbus, Georgia; his siblings, Alonzo (Roberta) Pugh, Jr. of
Oak Park, Michigan, Indavis (Doris) Pugh of Montgomery, Alabama,
Iona Anthony of Opelika, Alabama, and Clarence Dawson of
Chicago, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Jasmine Pugh, Jason Moore,
Martez Jones, Arielle Collins Pugh, Aiden Collins Pugh, Micah
Pugh, Omarion Jennings, Madison Pugh, and Jasynn Wade; one
aunt, Willie Mae Cobb of Columbus, Georgia; a mother-in-law,
Mrs. Annie Mell Landers of Columbus, Georgia, eighteen sisters
and brothers-in-law; a host of nieces and nephews; a trusted
friend, Johnny Spires of Detroit; and numerous other relatives and
friends.
