A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Gethsemane Church of God in Christ, 1137 Guenther Road, Dayton, Ohio 45417.

Lamont Dennis, Sr., known affectionately as “Mighty” was born on February 10, 1961, in Pittsburgh, PA to Annis Dennis and Julietta (Cooper) Dennis. He went to be with the Lord on December 27, 2023, in Dayton, OH.

In 1979, Lamont graduated from Allegheny High School, Pittsburgh, PA and soon after joined the United States Army’s Battery A 1st Battalion Field Artillery 2nd Armed Division and served from July 1979 – July 1982.He was a proud member of the military and received a Rifle Marksman badge as well as an Expert Hand Grenade badge while serving as a Cannon Crewman who worked on Howitzers in Germany and the United States.

After returning from the military, Lamont worked at The Westin William Penn Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh where he met his beautiful wife Helen (Ravndal) Dennis in 1988 and they were married in Pittsburgh on December 30, 1989.In 1997, Lamont decided that his family needed a change, and they packed up and moved to Ohio where he dedicated his life to Christ and his family. He worked at Panasonic in Troy, OH for many years until he went to Sinclair Community College where he received HVAC certification. After which, he was hired on at Rieck Services where he worked for 17 years until his retirement in 2023. During his time at Rieck, Lamont left an indelible impression and forged lasting friendships that he held dear.

Lamont is survived by and leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 33 plus years, Helen L. Dennis of Dayton, OH; sons; Lamont A. Dennis, Jr. (Precious) of Dayton, OH; Steven M. Dennis of Columbus, OH; Alvin C. Dennis of Dayton, OH and daughter, Davina M. Dennis of Pittsburgh, PA; brothers; Alvin L. Dennis (Diane); Derrick Dennis; Mark Dennis (Charmaine) and Leonard Dennis (Lynne), sisters; Delores Scott; Patricia Whitley (Leonard); Debra Spells; a host of nieces and nephews who considered Uncle Mighty their second dad; in-laws Christian and Janeal Ravndal, who considered him a son, as well as many cousins, family, and friends who loved and admired him. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Santina Dennis.

Lamont will be remembered as a faithful servant of God, committed husband, and a dedicated father who loved his family tremendously. He took absolute pride in his career, selflessly served his community, and thought of others before himself. He was a connoisseur of both music and film, a die hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan, a ferocious card player and he had an infectious sense of humor. He made it his mission to help anyone in need and to each day be a blessing to someone else. Lamont is deeply loved and will be truly missed by everyone.

I am so very sorry for your loss, Helen. Losing a spouse at any age is difficult. I hope that the good memories keep Lamont alive in your heart. I feel for you, because I know what you are going through. I am sending much love, peace and hugs to you in the coming days.
