Mr. Larkin Roosevelt McCants, Sr. was born on January 29, 1939, in Valley, Chambers County, AL, to the parentage of the late Asa and Josie McCants. He was called home to glory on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at East Alabama Medical Center-Lanier, Valley, AL.
Larkin confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and united with Rehoboth Baptist Church.
Larkin received his education from Rehobeth and Lanier High Schools. He was a retired employee of West Point Pepperell. “Pig Man”, as he was called, enjoyed kicking it with the Boys of his age.
Larkin was preceded in death by his loving wife, Billie Jean Carter McCants and daughter Tracy Sabrina McCants.
He leaves to cherish his precious life: five sons, Larkin (Jane)McCants, Jr., Columbus, GA, Terry McCants, Trent (Chureka) McCants, Eric McCants, and Edward Shealey all of Valley, AL; six daughters, Priscilla (Michael) Hutchinson, Barbara (Charlie) Little both of Valley, AL, Sandra (Rev. Stanley) Roberts, Sr., Jennifer Heard both of Lanett, AL, Kayla McKenzie of Columbus GA and Debra (Vernon) Currington, Atlanta, GA; one brother, Franklin McCants; fourteen sisters- in-law Mary Carter, Virginia (Benny) Bennett, Marion Barker, and Willie Carter, all of Valley, AL, Linda Sue Kimbrough, Albany, GA, Alice Berg, and Barbara Weaver of Tampa, FL, Linda Weaver and Christine Weaver of Columbus,GA.; four brothers- in- laws, Mack Weaver of New York, NY, David Weaver, Kelvin Weaver, and Jeffery Weaver of Columbus, GA; four special friends, Juanita Hicks of Lanett AL and Gail McQueen-Hunter of LaGrange, GA, Bud Reese, Cusseta, AL, and Curtis Davis Valley, AL; goddaughter, Rhonda Davidson and godson, Willie B. Flournoy; 28 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephew, cousin, other family members, and friends.
He also leaves loving and caring grandchildren that was his caretaker, Tora McCants, Eric McCants, Jr., and Airka McCants with his children Priscilla, Sandra, Jennifer, Trent, Larkin Jr., Terry, Eric, Chureka, Stanley, Michael and the Staff of Diversicare Living Center, Lanett, AL
