A son of the late William, Sr. and Katie Jones Banks, Mr. Banks was a native of Columbus, GA who was a 1973 graduate of the George W. Carver High School. He also attended Morris Brown College. He was a member of Wynnton Hill Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Trustee and with the Male Choir. He was retired following 38 years of dedicated service as a Police Officer/Detective with the Columbus Consolidated Government.

He was preceded in death by three brothers,William, Jr., George and James Banks.

Survivors include: one son, Cody Banks Holloway and step daughter April Parker (Lincoln); nieces and nephews, Leroy Banks (Yolanda), Kia Banks, Jameene Banks Williams (Michael), Shawndra Banks-Patterson (Cortez), Marcus Banks, Courtney Beachamp, George Banks, Jr., Brittany Parks (Randall) and Nichelle Banks Williams (Rodney); and a loving companion, Annie Woods; 1st cousins Lamour Johnson, Audrey Upshaw and Etta Fleming.
