Larry Dean Furstenau was born May 21, 1942 in West Point to Clarence and Ruth (Jurgenson) Furstenau.He graduated from West Point High School in 1960 and from Wayne State College with a degree in music education in 1965.

Frosty taught for seven years in Snyder, 10 years in Scribner, and 17 years in West Point.He taught Junior High Social Studies, Elementary Music, Junior High Music, Band, and Choir in Snyder; Junior High Music, Band, Choir, and Swing Choir in Scribner; and Junior High Band, Stage Band, and Senior Band in West Point.Frosty was well noted for his outstanding marching bands, marching in five to seven parades every summer and presenting halftime shows.The marching band received many awards, and the senior concert bands received many awards in District Music Contest.Frosty retired in 1999 after 34 years of teaching.

Frosty was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.He had an immense love for teaching and his students held a special place in his heart.

Survivors include nieces, Cindy Reicks and Carrie Essink and many friends.Frosty was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Ruth Furstenau, and his loving sister Suzi Reicks.
