Pool game 220 truckstop

January 16, 2022
On night Larry decided it would be a good idea to shoot some pool. So we went to the 220 truck stop. It was a little busy and we had to wait on a table. We started a game and shot 2 more. A couple of guys had been playing beside us asked if we wanted to ply partners. Larry said sure.we played a few games, the guys were pretty good. They wanted to play for money. Larry said no at first and then said okay, how much.  They said 5 bucks a game Larry agreed. Larry walked past me and said hold back. I knew what he meant. We won a few and lost a few. We were about even. One of the guys said how about some real money. Larry ask how much. They said 200 a game. Larry walk over, leaned against the table looked me and asked how much I had. I said about 30.00. He said I got 50. I said we can't cover that bet. Now the other guys couldn't hear us. Larry turned around and we'll do it but make it 500.00. Well I bout fell over. Larry turned around and said don't lose. Man I knew we were going get hurt that night!! We played and it was back and forth. It came down to the last shot....my turn.  The 8 ball was at the bottom of the table, the cue ball was at the other end. Larry said don't miss. I checked every single option and all I had was to bank it to the corner pocket. I looked over at Larry and he was looking at the door. I took the shot and made it! Larry shouted yeah!!!! He took the money and said we had to go. They wanted to have a chance to win their money back. They said double or nothing. Larry stopped looked at me, I shook my head no. He said nah we gota go. They said hey I bet you didn't even have enough to cover the first bet. Larry looked at me and said keep walking. We got to the door Larry looked back and said run! The guys were coming after their money!!!! Larry jumped in the driver's side and I jumped in the passenger side.  We tore out of there spinnin  gravel all over them!!!!  He said we sure got lucky, I said it wasn't luck we're just that good!!!!

The runway car.

When I was just a young boy I would go to were Larry was working on his car. I was too young to do much more than hand him tools. He was working on an old car,I cant remember the kind of car,but I bet it was fast! Anyway I was standing on the driver's side he just got out from under the car, when all of a sudden it started to roll forward! It was all down hill and it got steeper the futher down it went and at the bottom was a large drop. Across the road was a house,in that house lived a little old woman who had the most beautiful yard. It was surround by large boxwood hedges. The car was headed in that direction! Larry ran from the passenger side of the car, around the front of the car,and opened the driver's side door. The car by this time had picked up speed still heading for the house. As the car took the final drop into the dirt road,I heard the motor start and roar, tires spinning, dirt flying! He just missed the boxwood hedges by inches!! Down the road he went in a cloud of dust tires spinning all the way. Once again he saved the day. That's the kind of memories I have of him always the daredevil always saving the day. Thanks for the memories big brother. I will never forget. I will see you someday and we will make new memories. I love you,and miss you!

Cars

February 10, 2015

Larry and I loved to work on cars. He gave me my first car for graduation. He worked on it for days to get it ready. It was a Plymouth satellite, bucket seats, shifter in the floor. I couldn't have been prouder, the owner of a car my brother gave me! !! He spent money he didn't have, and time he could have been resting

But not my brother, he did what has always did, loved over and above what anyone ever knew.
