His Life
June 4, 2015

Larry was the only child of Leonard and Ruby Kelley.  He was born in Doddridge County, West Virginia and grew up in Harrisville, WV.

After graduating high school he entered the United States Air Force.  While in the Air Force he worked on air plane avionics and titan missile guidance systems.  He was honorably discharged after serving four years.

He attended a two year technical school in Indiana for electronics.

He married his wife Crystal in 1960 and together they had three children, Colleen, Brian and Kevin.

While living in West Virginia he worked for AT&T.  While still working for AT&T the family moved to La Plata, MD in 1980.  Shortly after moving to Maryland his son Brian died in an automobile accident along with two other teenagers.

Later he began working at the Canadian Embassy in Washington, DC as chief building engineer.

He enjoyed taking his children fishing and later on his grandson.  He always loved working with electronics and had his amateur radio license.

Larry suffered a stroke on Labor Day 2006.  Both Larry and Crystal moved into their son Kevin's home after his stroke.  As a result of the stroke he was left mostly paralyzed on his right side.  His ability to speak was affected but he could still say yes, no, good, good night and a few other words.  He understood what was said to him and when words failed him he would find some other way to let someone know what he was thinking.

Kevin's wife Kim who is a registered nurse provided expert care to both Larry and Crystal over the past eight years.

Although the last eight years were challenging for Larry he always seemed to have a smile and loved being with his family especially his grandchildren Keith and Katelyn.
