Larry Robert McMullen, aged 75, of Pelham, AL, passed away on March 24, 2022. He was born in Allentown, PA to Robert and Lovella (Schaffer) McMullen. Larry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Darla (Herrington); children, Kristi McMullen and Jennifer McMullen Ray; son-in-law, Casey Ray; and two adored grandchildren, Jackson Robert and Arabella Elizabeth Ray. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Larry is a 1964 graduate of both Phillipsburg High School in Phillipsburg, NJ and Norland High School in Miami, FL. Larry is also a 1968 graduate of Miami Dade Community College with an associate’s degree in Surveying and Mapping, and a 1978 graduate of Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. He also served his country in the United States Air Force from August 1969 to August 1973.

After eleven years as a project engineer in civil engineering firms, Larry and his wife started their own civil engineering firm in Kennesaw, GA. Larry and his wife retired after successfully running their company for 22 years. In 2016, he and his wife moved to Pelham, AL to be near their grandchildren.

Larry had many interests. He enjoyed reading, Civil War history, travel, fishing, and old hotrods. He had more books on history and politics than he knew what to do with, enough fishing rods to fill a bedroom, and too many subscriptions to car magazines!

A celebration honoring Larry's life will be held at South Highland Presbyterian Church in the church chapel in Birmingham, AL on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. Dr. Larry Michael will officiate.
